“Good hotel for a weekend in London!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 September 2013

Stayed here for 3 nights over the weekend. Travelled to London for a sightseeing trip. Got a great deal and this hotel did not disappoint. Rooms were clean, fresh and very soundproof, we had a room at the front and could not hear the traffic on the roads. Staff at check-in were very helpful. Hotel is in a good location, very close to tube and has a Sainsburys just across the street, very convenient. For a young couple, the location was ideal, near some nice bars and restaurants. Breakfast was simple enough, cereal, beans, eggs etc but a good starter for the day ahead. As previously mentioned, the lifts were pretty unreliable however not that much of a problem. Our room was quite big, enough room to fit suitcase which was good as there is very little storage in the rooms, no drawers, wardrobe etc. Bathroom looked new, very modern and good shower. Would consider this hotel again if I was returning to London.

I regularly work out of Old Street and there are not that many reasonably priced hotels. This newish hotel is only a 5 minute walk from Old Street. The staff are lovely, the rooms spacious and modern, with a spacious smart bathroom. It is great value for money (including breakfast) at just over £100 per night.

However although I am an IHG member with preferences (ie non smoking room) I arrived late on a Sunday night and was given a room on the 1st floor - this is the smoking corridor and it absolutely stinks, as well as the rooms. It was so late I didn't bother asking to move but avoid at all costs.

I will stay again if I get a non smoking room.

Room Tip: Avoid floor 1 unless you are a smoker

We stayed in this hotel on my first trip to London. The hotel looked pretty average and plain with no fancy stuff. The rooms were clean and boring with minimum decor. The blue color of furnishings set me off in a blue mood. :-)
The one good thing that struck me was the absolutely sound proof room with no outside noise. The breakfast was okay. The staff is courteous. I would recommend this hotel only for a business stay, not for a holiday with family.

We chose this hotel because of the availability of a family room for 2 adults and 2 kids. The room was good size and was ready for us when we arrived at 10am. They let us check in early and were very accommodating. We booked through hotels.com and got free Internet with the room. The breakfast was very good, even without the bacon. The staff was very friendly and was willing to go out of their way for anything we needed. After returning one evening with a purchased water bottle in hand, they told us not to buy any more, and they would be glad to supply us with any water we needed with bottles they had in the bar. The only downsides were no air conditioning in the family room (but the room was on the back of the hotel and the windows could be opened with virtually no outdoor noise.) And one of the shower walls was a flimsy plexiglass that you would probably fall through if you were to lean against it. Also, the website advertised Victoria station as the closest tube station. In reality Pimlico is much closer. All in all a nice hotel with friendly staff that was clean and accomodating.

This was a lovely hotel. The staff where kind and helpfull and the rooms lovely. Only had a couple of issues with it, one being the full English breakfast, which had NO bacon, how can you have a full English with no bacon, and the scramble egg was like slop. The cost of parking was expensive to, £28 ..which was a lot more than other hotels around there. And was mortified to notice a pay and display opposite ..which was free on Sundays :-( but otherwise it was lovely...no complaints about staff or the rooms :-)

I stayed just one night, and the overall I give it only a Very Good, due to a few negatve points.
But first the pro's
1) Good location no doubt ( the tube is 100 meters away) and there are a lot of pubs in the area
2) Clean room, soft bed, very well air conditioned
3) Friendly and helpful staff
4) The view from the room was cool

Cons (as a person on business)
1) Charging 5 pounds for 1 hour of internet is too much
2) In the room, I found no shampoo no conditioner (non of the basics) , no mini bar, nowhere to hang my suit
3) One of two elevators was out of order and I stayed on the 5th floor, and sometimes I took the stairs because waiting really did take a lot.

Generally for a 1-2 day stay I would recommend this hotel. Although I cannot say I got what I wanted for the value.

This was my first stay in this part of London. The hotel was very conveniently located. There were plenty of options for travel with bus stops very close and the train station not too far for a middle age fat guy pulling one suitcase. I was very impressed with the variety of dining options nearby. The hotel is very nice. No complaints at all.
