I needed somewhere inexpensive but quiet in the Waterloo area, and this seemed to fit the bill. The walk from Waterloo was only about 10 minutes. I arrived very early (about 11.30 am), and with no high hopes of getting admittance to a room. However, the woman on reception was extremely welcoming, and found me a room on the 6th floor which happened to be ready. It was a single room, and was small. However, the single bed was of a reasonable size. This is 'no frills' (no toiletries provided other than soap from a dispenser on the wall), but everything was adequate for a short stay of this nature. There was a small desk, and TV, and a kettle. Unfortunately, the latter seemed to be faulty, in that it switched itself off long before the water was boiling. The main advantage from my point of view was that it was quiet. Perhaps I was just lucky, but I didn't hear noise from any other rooms. I was only woken once by the siren of an emergency vehicle - something which might happen in any city-centre hotel. The view was of office buildings and a railway line, but the cityscape was quite a panorama - (being on the top floor helped) - and I appreciated the gold-streaked sky at sundown. Breakfast, again, was no frills but functional (self-service). Some fruit, cooked items available, coffee from a machine. Only disappointment was the croissants which tasted stale and dry (yesterday's?). Check-out was again courtesy of a very pleasant receptionist, who enquired whether I had enjoyed my stay. All in all, this hotel more than met my expectations, and I would readily stay here again if needing a room in that part of London.
