We stayed for a week, mainly to visit the EGX Rezzed event at the Tobacco Docks, bit also have a mooch around Spitalfields and nearby. This flat is perfectly located for that and very reasonable for the location. Pretty much everything you could need is there somewhere! Would definitely stay here again if in the area.
Our 3rd stay, and returning again this December, Carlos is like a friend greeting us every time.
The apartment is immaculate and smells divine. The fridge stocked with necessary items (milk, and bottled water), plunger coffee provided, and stunning flowers.
The East End is a rich and diverse part of London, lending to varied culinary delights along Brick Lane, and the surrounding streets.
The heart of the area continues to beat late into the night, so expect to be privy to the occasional argument.
We love this as our soft place to fall at the end of a full day breathing in the phenomenal city that London is.
Thank you Carlos!!
See you in December.
Carlos greeted us at the apartment and showed us how to use all the appliances at the time arranged.
Aldgate east is the closest tube Station, but has no lift at the White chapel exit .. would recommend uber from the most convenient station to the building if you had big cases. (We used London Bridge, which served Gatwick by rail direct on the Southern, contactless is £14.20 which would allow you to travel in first class carriage for bit more room for your baggages.. cheaper if you prebooked online for regular carriage, but restricted space and time, as it's a regular train with no special luggage bays). There is also bus stop just outside the "back" door of the apartment complex on to Whitechapel St.
Apartment was as described. Only small bar fridge. (But why would you need more when you're in holidays?) Washing machine and separate dryer worked wonderfully.
Supermarket, restaurants (seriously, try absurd bird, hot box), pubs (recommend the culperer), Bricklane, Spitalfields market all within 5 - 10min walk. Tower Hill is also just an easy 25min walk downhill (would probably not recommend walking up unless you're fit, especially after a couple of hours exploring Tower of London and the beautiful Tower bridge LOL).
Noise was not really an issue for us on the third floor. We had some minor issues with the water supply (which Carlos warned us of, and is scheduled to be fixed this coming week) and the access panel for the building on our first night (helpful neighbour let us in! Thank God).. Carlos came around the next day to make sure everything was AOK. We kept in touch using SMS throughout our stay.
Spring mattress was but creaky, but maybe that's coz I'm used to ones without springs. Shower pressure was good when water's working. (Shower curtain maybe could do with a new one.) Everything else worked fine.
Check out was uneventful. (We caught a train from London Bridge that was delayed and turned into an express to Gatwick. Hahahahaha)
Well located very near tube station in zone 1 and close to Liverpool Street Station (important if you're getting trains in and/or out, including Express Stanstead Airport), but the area itself is not my favorite in London... which is really personal. I just recommend people to research a little about it to check if it is their kind of place or not ;)
Carlos was very kind when we met him for check-in and left everything nice and ready for us.
The place was very clean, there was everything we needed for our stay and Internet worked pretty well. Very stress free!
The kitchen, however, is very tired and in need of a modernization. The kitchenware is nice and beautiful and it was clean, but some pots and pans had been over used. Also there is just a small fridge (hotel size), so sometimes it is a little too tight for supplies. We had to go to the supermarket everyday because we cooked all our meals, but if you're eating out it won't matter.
What I would consider if booking it again or recommending this place was the weather. If too cold, I would be worried because the insulation is not very good and the heating in the flat may not be enough for colder days...
I am a return visitor. Good location, great owner. Hard to imagine a better stay! In an up-and-coming area, enjoy the ever-renewing London.
The flat is lovely and clean. Carlos was kind enough to have fresh flowers and basic food items for us to use upon our arrival. Bed was comfortable and the amenities are all there. Wifi worked perfectly. The building has a lift which is great when you don't want to lug heavy suitcases up flights of stairs. Conveniently located to restaurants, grocery stores, multiple coffee shops, and two tube stations, it was a perfect home base for our vacation. The only downside is that it can be noisy from the street but i found using the fan provided along with some background music it was easy to sleep through it (I am a light sleeper).
Great place and great host.
Thanks Carlos for a very comfortable stay, we really appreciated your hospitality and patience, the apartment was just right for us, plenty of room, very comfortable and a great location to easy get to the main sites,
My wife was very impressed with the beautiful flowers you left for us... very nice touch... Hope to see you again soon...
