“Rooms are very small”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 August 2014

i recently stayed @ the Ibis Greenwich, location really good if you want to see the Cutty Sark, Cafe Rouge situated within the hotel and good to people watch during a nice evening although the staff were not very helpful and always seemed too busy to help.
The rooms were very small, i stayed in a twin room which might as well been a double bed as they were so close together, you could not part the beds anymore as there was no room..
My only grip but the Ibis is a budget hotel and you get what you pay for...

I had a short business trip and decided to stay in Greenwich at this hotel. The location is excellent and is close to all sorts of touristy venues as well as a short walk to both the overground and the DLR. The adjacent provides a decent continental or full English breakfast. It's nothing amazing, but serves the purpose.

The rooms are small and basic. They are also very clean. The air conditioning seemed to work well in my room. It's an average, decent hotel in an excellent location. Nothing to really complain about, but nothing to write home about either.

I booked a twin room in the Ibis Greenwich as we were going to see Monty Python in the O2.

The hotel is well located for visiting Greenwich. You can even see the Cutty Sark from the hotel! It's also close to a Docklands Light Railway station and Greenwich station if you wanted to get into London. You can also get a river boat from the Cutty Sark. Greenwich Market is great at the weekend and Greenwich Park is also just walking distance away.

The hotel was clean and very quiet considering there were building works taking place across the street. The beds were comfortable but when we first entered the room the beds were pushed completely together. We were able to push them apart but each morning the cleaners would push them together again. Once the beds were pushed apart you couldn't walk down the side of the bed. There was little room for suitcases either and these needed to be stored under the bed. I wouldn't recommend staying with someone who might get on your nerves!

The bathroom was quite a generous size compared to the bedroom, and again it was very clean. Only one large towel, one small towel and one bath mat were provided which was strange considering it was a twin room. We had to ask for extra towels. In the mornings the shower was unreliable as it constantly switched from hot to cold, probably because lots of people were using the shower at the same time. We tried to shower in the evenings when it was more reliable.

Café Rouge is located next door and you can buy breakfast vouchers from hotel reception. While the breakfast was lovely I did find it quite expensive for what it is and would recommend venturing into Greenwich instead.

Overall I would recommend staying here for visits to Greenwich or London but don't expect luxurious rooms.

We stayed as a couple in Ibis Greenwich for two nights.

The room was larger than in some B&Bs we've stayed in. The bathroom was a sort of 'pod' within the room. There was a comfortable bed and enough storage space for two people. The AC worked well too. The bathroom was fine tho the shower drainage not great. This meant water leaked out onto the bathroom pod floor. We also didn't have hand towels on the first day, tho these were provided after room service came.

The reception team were excellent - friendly, always with a smile and efficient. Our room key stopped working at one point and it was sorted very quickly.

Breakfast is provided with a voucher you take to Cafe Rouge just next to the hotel reception. This is £8.50 for a full English breakfast or £5.50 for a continental (croissant/pain au chocolate + half baguette + butter + jam). Both breakfasts come with a glass of fruit juice and two hot drinks. Depending on what you like for breakfast and how hungry you are (too much food for me), you may be better just paying for for something else directly off the menu. The hotel website when you book also sells these breakfasts marked up at £9 per head so I would advise waiting to buy in the hotel (we did this each morning). A short walk in Greenwich will show you a number of other cafés to get something light for breakfast.

Overall, a good stay. Would recommend.

It is always an enouragement to receive such positive comments about employees. Just to inform for the benefits of other readers that the breakfast prices on our website are matching with the same price offer on the reception desk as the price itself has a discount for the guest using the adjoining restaurant "Cafe Rouge". Once again thank you for your feedback and we look forward to welcome you back again in the near future. Kindest regards, Carina Meijide

We chose the Ibis at Greenwich to be close to the O2 for Monty Python show, and to 'do' Greenwich. Excellent location, and although it is basic or standard, as others say it is absolutely fine. We ate in the adjacent Cfe Rouge on the first night of our stay, and had breakfast there two mornings. The cooked breakfast is as expected, but continental only means baguettes, croissants etc - no fruit or yogurt. We found the location exclleent for the tourist places around Greenwich, Cutty Sark, Maritime Museum, Royal Observatory, etc, etc, and for the river bus to the O2. All in all I'd recommend the Ibis at Grenwich.

I seem to have been staying quite often at the Ibis brand when I go travelling for the simple reason that the ones I have stayed at have all been to the same standard, and I know what I am getting. Everything at the Ibis at Greenwich was to the same good standard that I had experienced elsewhere; the room is a good size, the ensuite is compact but very well designed, the room and ensuite were tastefully decorated and furnished, in a modern style, and everything was spotlessly clean, the bed was very comfortable and I slept well with no disturbance, the safety deposit boxes are free, the buffet breakfast was fairly basic but perfectly adequate and a reasonable £8.95 and all the staff were efficient and friendly. The Greenwich Ibis is located within 10 minutes walk of Royal Greenwich and the Royal Observatory and there is a multitude of pubs and restaurants nearby. It is within easy reach by DLR and MTR of the O2, Canary Wharf and central London. But….why was the Ibis Greenwich £125 on the night I stayed and the Ibis Wembley was £95 four days earlier. I presume it was because on the night I stayed, there was a Robbie Williams concert at the O2 (for which incidentally I paid £75). Even allowing for that, there wasn’t £30 difference in what was provided at the Ibis Greenwich compared with the Ibis Wembley. I can’t expect an explanation since the Ibis Greenwich manager doesn’t seem to respond to reviews on Tripadvisor. For those two reasons, my normal 4-star rating for Ibis goes down to 3-star.

A great place fpr a lpng weekend in London. Handily located for the dlr though best way into town is surely the water bus. Its an ibis so the rooms are like every other ibis so comfortable but impersonal - no surprises. Excellent sound proofing so lovely quiet sleep. Note that they don't have their own restaurant but an arrangement with the adjoining "café rouge". We felt the green café opposite was a better deal. Walkable to o2 on around 40 minutes along Thames path.

Staff friendly and efficient.
