Dear Guest,
Thank you for your review, pointing out what you felt were the good and bad points of the hotel.
You mention that one of the rooms looked ‘tired’, and that the hotel needed an update. We do acknowledge that some of the furnishings are ageing, and that a somewhat musty odour may be inevitable in some places, although we do attend carefully to hygiene, with rigorous daily inspections. Also, you might agree that those conditions do not actually inhibit a comfortable stay. But we are steadily replacing those furnishings, as part of the ‘update’ you recommend, which has been in active progress for some months.
We’re sorry if you felt the breakfast was basic. Many guests regard the cooked English breakfast as a special treat, not normally available in our price-range, as confirmed in many appreciative letters. But in case you do decide to stay here again, our dining-room staff are always ready to listen to your requests, and may be willing to provide bigger helpings on demand.
Finally, we’re glad you noticed the pleasant and peaceful surroundings in Hanwell, as well as the convenient access to central London.

Had to find somewhere cheap to stay for a conference in Chancery Lane. I selected your hotel purely on price, and was prepared for something pretty basic. I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by what I found. Friendly service from the moment I walked in. A clean, comfortable room with ensuite facilities and wi-fi access. And a great cooked breakfast to start the day.
Hanwell was a part of London I’d never heard of before, and it felt almost rural at the back of the hotel - really refreshing. Also, the nearby Piccadilly Line took me to Holborn in one hop, f ar quicker than expected. Only one regret - our conference went on into the evening, and I never got a chance to try your Nepalese cuisine. Next time, maybe!

Dear Guest,
Satisfied customers are usually the ones less likely to write reviews on this site, and we tend to get bombarded with negative reports, often over small issues, but many of them (for some reason) fabricated.
So it is most welcome to hear from a new guest who genuinely appreciated his stay, and confirmed our principal claim - that we provide the standards of much more expensive hotels.
We know how much difference personal service makes to the enjoyment of a hotel experience, and as a family-run business, we’re in a good position to offer this. It’s also satisfying to see that our major refurbishment programme is showing up in more comments about the improved accommodation and facilities.
Finally, it is cheering to hear that you may be thinking of a ‘next time’, and we look forward to the opportunity of welcoming you once again at Boston Manor Hotel.

The rooms were dirty and the whole hotel smelt because of the drains. The price of the rooms were too high for what you got. However the montys restaurant was fantastic the food was great and very good value for money

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your enthusiastic report on our restaurant, which is regarded as a unique bonus in a hotel of our price-range.
However, we must dispute your claim that the rooms are bad value for money. We get regular letters of appreciation, confirming our claim that we provide the standards of much more expensive hotels, and it is simply not realistic to expect any lower rates for this standard of amenity and service.
We do occasionally get complaints about dirty rooms. On investigation, these usually refer to ageing furnishings, rather than actual lack of hygiene. All rooms are thoroughly cleaned and inspected before each stay, and some of the claims about stained bedding, dust and debris have been shown to be unsupported. Equally your complaint about the drains is one we have heard before, and this too is simply impossible. Our relations with the Environmental Health service are particularly good, and the drains have always been found to be in perfect running order.

For the money this hotel is ok, no more. Room clean and ensuite looked new, but anyone taller than me (5'7) would have to sit on the loo sideways. Room was very small for a double. The curtains were too short and allowed light in from the adjacent corridor. Breakfast was basic. Do not expect very much from this hotel because you are not paying much for it. Would love to have seen at least one member of staff smile, its free and makes one hell of a difference to ones overall impression of a hotel.

Dear Guest,
We’re sorry that you found your bathroom accommodation to be rather limited. Some rooms do have bigger bathrooms, but at the cheaper end, we have found that our guests would prefer most of the space to be used as a bedroom.
Also we regret that your curtains did not keep out the light; those are due to be replaced soon, as part of our ongoing refurbishment schedule.
Your other two complaints did surprise us a bit. The cooked English breakfast is one of the things people often write to thank us about. I’m not sure what you meant by ‘basic’, but it is hard to think what was missing. If you had felt that the quantities were too small, I’m sure the waiter would have brought you a bigger helping.
Finally, you say you couldn’t get a smile from the staff. That really must be the first time we’ve heard that complaint. This is a family-run business, and employees are trained to provide an enthusiastic personal service. We can only think that you caught them on a bad day, but again, our apologies if they failed to set up a welcoming atmosphere.

We stayed one night at the hotel as traveled down to go to Wembley, room was ok however our double bed was two singles pushed together.
Seemed clean enough however a few grubby marks on the walls.
The shower had no power at all so no good trying to rinse shampoo out of hair if your a female or have long hair, also the bathroom was very smelly which was coming from the drains.
The toilet seat had a bolt missing so nearly fell off the toilet.
We were not expecting luxury due to price but we would not stay here again.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for selecting Boston Manor Hotel for your Wembley stopover, and for acknowledging that we give good value for money.
We can’t quite see why you had a problem with the two single beds combined as a double; the modular system is increasingly popular in smaller hotel-rooms. And, as you say, you were not expecting luxury.
If there was a bolt missing from the toilet-seat, then we can only apologise; it must have been caused by the previous guest, and we may have missed it on our normally rigorous inspections.
Your problem with the showers we suspect was a case of low pressure in the water-supply to the hotel, which is beyond our control. However we are as i type taking measures to eliminate this issue.
As for the smell from the drains, this is the first time we’ve heard of this problem, and we thank you for bringing it to our attention. The drains are routinely kept in good order, and we liaise closely with the Environmental Health Department.
‘Get what you pay for’ seems to us a good enough overall testimonial.

no frills and basic but inexpensive and good value. Needs a lick of paint here and there and some of the furniture is a bit old but to be fair you get what you pay for. The location is average but ideal for events at Wembley. The tube is a 10/12 mins walk away. The rooms have clean bedding and the beds are comfortable. The breakfast is like you would get at Asda. The price is spot on for a no frills hotel. I certainly wouldnt recommend it if you want a romantic trip to London with your wife (or someone elses!!) but go to central London and pay considerably more if thats what you want. Staff are friendly. Dining area doubles up as an Indian Restaurant on an evening ( its an Indian business) this is a good eating house and 40% discount for residents. Only issue was the shower. No pressure on the water and either scorching or freezing. Thought it might just have been or room but spoke to a couple of other groups down for the footy and they said their rooms were the same

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your generally favourable review of our hotel. Your phrase ‘what it says on the tin’ is very appropriate in our price-range, and at least one other guest has used it in earlier reviews.
We acknowledge that some of the furniture is ageing, but those items are being steadily replaced as part of our refurbishment programme, including full repainting. As for your problem with the shower-control, we must certainly apologise for any inconvenience on the part of you and your friends. Where this problem has cropped-up in the past, it is normally due to damage by the previous guest. But we will make a point of checking the equipment with special care in the future.
Meanwhile we are especially glad that you have noted the friendly service, the good food and also the convenient access to Wembley. In fact, we are building up a steady clientele who identify us as the ideal stopover for events at the stadium.

Stayed at the Boston Manor Hotel in Ealing February 15-16 for £90. Overall, pretty good, small room at back of hotel - for one person although it was a 'double' bed. Very small bathroom with shower. Good location - bonus - FREE parking and Breakfast! Wifi although couldn't get it in my room at all (weak signal) and only for 1 hour in the lobby so beware! As for breakfast, got up on Sunday morning and went down at 9:22 am and was told that breakfast had finished at 9 am. COME ON, that's just not right - on a Sunday!! I've never seen a breakfast in any hotel anywhere finish that early on a weekend! Monday's breakfast was edible but not much more. Cereals, orange juice and full English which included a standard sausage, two little shriveled pieces of bacon. I mean small, 1 inch in size. Beans, 2 fried eggs and cold toast. Don't expect much, seriously! But for the price and the relatively easy access to the tube - about 10 minutes walk - and the price - it's a decent place. They were very helpful with directions and there is a Boston Pizza right next door! Overall, for the price. It's alright!

Room Tip: Bedrooms at the back facing the parking lot much quieter than ones on the street.

Dear Guest,
Thank you for your frank appraisal of Boston Manor Hotel, and your general conclusion that it provides good value for money.
We’re glad you appreciated the quiet, peaceful location and the double-bed as standard, even for single occupiers. We acknowledge that many of the bathrooms are on the small side, simply because guests on a budget have generally preferred that option to a bigger bathroom with a smaller bedroom. As in all hotels, some rooms get a better wi-fi signal than others, though we’re not quite sure what you mean about ‘one hour in the lobby’.
Your problems at breakfast are certainly not typical of our normal service. Many guests make a point of mentioning our generous cooked breakfast in their letters of appreciation (as well as in their Tripadvisor reviews, as you can see), and we’re sure that if you had asked the staff for a bigger portion, you would have received it. If you felt that 9.00am was an unreasonable time for last call, we can only remind you that our limited staff-numbers on a Sunday are needed for other duties after that hour, and this is a point on which we can’t really afford to be flexible. Aside from that, you were good enough to notice that our team displayed a generally helpful attitude.
You say ‘Overall, for the price. It's alright!’ We’re more than satisfied with that verdict.
