Six of us stayed at this hotel when we visited London for a special event. The weather was hot (for London) but the hotel rooms were comfortably air-conditioned. We'd give a 5-star rating but for the fact that the restaurant staff on the first evening were less than knowledgeable about the menu and what was / was not available. Because of a mistake with the dessert, the manager made a deduction from the bill which was very reasonable compensation.
The reception desk booked us taxis to get to an appointment one morning but the first didn't arrive so the staff took to the street to hail a taxi so that we didn't miss our engagement.
Overall very good and a very convenient location for our purposes and for Thames-based tourist sights, although possibly too far away from shopping centres.

Room Tip: Away from the main road

Come away in, honeypie. That was the call that greeted me into Novotel London Waterloo. No, not really of course. Exquisite hotel in the heart of London (or possibly the lungs, not sure really). Very close to London Eye, London aquarium and The Dungeon which are all a great place to visit although we visited none. Staff are very friendly although some members of staff don't have great English which led to miscommunication at times. Only one true Eastender works there!

First off, the restaurant hosted a winner's dinner, serving culinary delights such as chicken pot pie and Thai red curry. The lighting in the restaurant is a little dim but that didn't matter much. The bar staff are always polite and helpful and in particular Berrnard Pansy was good to converse with. We even met the shy and retiring John Prescott having dinner there one night, how cool is that!? In reality, not very.

Secondly, the rooms are spacious and a good size. The beds are comfortable and good for bouncing on. Desk space is adequate and there is an array of information pamphlets, should you require. However the pleasant experience in the room itself does not excuse the rampant mould I found around the plughole, it was horrific, a complete and utter nightmare. Also somewhat bizarrely I was greeted by a sausage on top of a picture.

Generously, parking is free which is surprising in the heart of London. Other Local amenities include the well tended St. Mary Gardens and Lambeth Palace. A down point of the visit was the Tour de France, rather boring if you ask me.

All in all a superb visit even by Granny Murray's standards. Once again a fantastic stay in Novotel London Waterloo.

Room Tip: not one facing car park enterance, so not 203,303,403 or 503.

For a vacation trip to London, if one is seeking a balance between a quiet neighbourhood close to attractions and reasonable rates by London standards, this polished and professional 4-star hotel delivers the goods. A stone's throw from Archbishop Park and Lambeth Bridge, and a short stroll along the Thames to Westminster bridge, London Eye and the Houses of Parliament, the location of this property is perfect.

Rooms are a bit small but nicely furnished and serviced. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, the breakfast buffet abundant and well laid out but seating, plates and cutlery tend to run out quickly when there is a rush.

Sadly, the Accor Le Club Loyalty program detracts from all the good things this place has to offer. Although a Silver member, I was told after my reservation that loyalty points are only awarded if one books on the Accor website. This means that, in spite of a good experience, I am unlikely to stay here again.

Room Tip: The rooms towards the back are quieter. Views above the 4th Floor are nicer.

Stayed here for 3 nights in June for a business trip as I couldn't get anything closer to the office, however I was very pleased.

Located about a 10 min walk from Lambeth North tube station, check in was quick (it was 8.30pm though so not busy!)
Ordered room service on my first night which was delicious and arrived quickly. Breakfast also good, standard continental and hot food choices, plus a variety of other options, cereals and breads, fruits etc.

Facilities in the room were of a high standard and I had a great view from my room, I could see Westminster and the London Eye! It was facing on to the main road so a little noisy with ambulances and traffic passing, but not unbearable or worse than you'd expect from a main road.

Would stay here again and would recommend highly.

The hotel has a very modern sleek look to it, which is very appealing. The location is great. You can walk to Buckingham Palace, Hyde Park, etc. The hop on/hop off bus stop is right around the corner. The Westminster tube stop is the other direction, just a short walk away. This made it very convenient to take the tube to Heathrow.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The bed was so comfortable. Our sink was stopped up, but maintenance came as soon as they were called and fixed it.

The breakfast was good with plenty of choices. The bar needed more than one cider, but that's just me.

A suggestion, for travelers looking for somewhere local to eat and/or drink. We headed to Whitehall then Covert looking for a pub in which we could take our 11 year old son to get something to eat on Friday afternoon. Forget that. I would suggest turning right out of the hotel instead. We saw several pubs in a few blocks when we were leaving, and so wish we had tried them instead.

The only downside was the unbelievable racket made by some kind of trucks before 6 am! The hotel of course has no control over that, but good grief!

Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is very close to the south bank and such very close to Westminster palace and major attractions. Rooms are modern, spacious and clean. Bar/ breakfast area is very nice. Personnel could be friendlier and breakfast is too expensive.
All in all highly recommended for a stay in London.
