“The BEST place in London to Stay! FABULOUS service!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 May 2011

I have traveled to London several times and stayed at 4 and 5-star hotels and thought I would try The Montague hotel for a change. I am so glad we did and now I will never stay anywhere else!! The service was beyond expectations! We were warmly greeted by the entire staff and allowed in our room/suite early and that right there was the hugest plus especially after a long overnight flight from America. Mustafa arranged so many tourist attractions for us, train tickets, nothing was too much for him! He was so friendly and knowledgable and we miss him!! Best Concierge ever!! The manager Sal greeted us each morning with a big smile and was also always available for information. Our room, the Duke Suite, was beautifully decorated and comfortable and we peeked into the Marquis suite which was also roomy and stunning. Perfect for our family of four to stay comfortably. Housekeeping arranged a wii system put in for my sons and treats were left every night in our room for us to enjoy. Everything was perfect!! We can't wait to go back. We also dined at their hotel the Blue Door Bistro- excellent service and food! Thank you again for everything Sal and Mustafa!!

I always chose the Montague for business trips. Great location across from the British Museum and walking distance to Convent Garden and the West End. This is a lovely, smaller hotel with exceptional service and attention to detail. The warm, cozy lobby is perfect for afternoon tea or just relaxing in the evening with a book. Very English with over stuffed furniture and lovely accents. The concierge service is outstanding. Within minutes of checking in they will know you by name and attend to all of your needs. They are simply the best at what they do. Old style attention and service to their guests. You can't go wrong at this hotle.

We stayed in the "Sovereign" room, which is beautifully appointed in blue with a sitting area and desk for the computer. We slept peacefully every night. The staff are very engaging and so helpful----bravo to Mustafa and Mark!!!
The owners should treasure their entire staff.
The Montague serves breakfast, of course, but one can find a Starbucks on every corner in London. But, why not try "Cafe Nero" (good coffees and croissants and pains au chocolat) and "Costa" and join their coffee clubs. Restaurant Tas is a Turkish restaurant about a five minute walk away from the Montague. Turkish food is clean, well-seasoned and prepared and delicious. Great staff. We ate there three times. The Montague offers three meals a day and "high" tea in their various restaurants (we twice had a very good Club sandwich for a late lunch), but we are foodies and went to a different place every night. Instead of taxis we bought "Oyster" cards and rode the buses and tubes. London public transportation is so easy to figure out, a great "green" way to get around, much less expensive than taxis and a well-paced way to see the sights! We enjoyed Bruno Loubet's resto. at the Zetter Hotel (15 mins. by bus), Koffmann's at The Berkeley in Knightsbridge, The Clifton in St. John's Wood for very good pub food, Cambio de Tercio, Arbutus and Bruno Loubet's for a second dinner. The British Museum is right around the corner from the Montague and very much worth a visit. Do rent their audioguide. Super guided tour of Westminster Abbey by a verger, highly informative guided tour of Parliament (Saturdays only), a Beefeater's Tour at the Tower of London, Greenwich, the Churchill War Museum, the Horseguards (you can kiss the horse on duty, but not the guard), the V&A, the National, Tate Modern and one of our favorites, Kew Gardens. Saw a sensational production of "Wicked", it's worth it just for the costumes and "Warhorse", it's worth it for the puppeteers and the story! Have fun in London!

Excellent location in Bloomsbury, literally around the corner from the British Museum, and away from the tourist crowds at Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus. Only a 5-minute walk across the park from the Russell Square tube station, and a 10-minute walk to Covent Garden. Our room was a "standard double", which included a queen bed. The room and bathroom were "cozy" (typical of many rooms I've seen in European hotels), but comfortable enough for my wife and I. We paid for the "breakfast inclusive" rate and felt we got our money's worth. The full English breakfast was hearty and filled us nicely until around dinner time. Every single staff member was wonderful. Whether it was just a smile, a cheery "good morning", booking a tour, assisting with train schedules, or recommendations for things to see/do, we felt like our presence was truly valued and appreciated.

I have been using this hotel for my business stop overs in London, for many years, and love it! The staff are welcoming, courteous and always extremely helpful. It is a wonderful warm, welcoming hotel in a great central location.

A fantastic hotel, relaxed and comfortable for the guests with the staff unobtrusive but always spot on when required. Everett in the bar is very efficient creating a great atmosphere. However all the staff work very hard to ensure the guest has all they need. Compliments to the manager as the staff are only as good as the manager.
