This lovely hotel was recommended by a colleague. It was a first rate experience. Clean, friendly, quiet and the best employees I have encountered in London. We used the hotel dining room the Blue Door Bisto as well as the bar for entertaining and it was as good as any dining experinece in London. There was no request that was not handled professionally and with dispatch. We thank every staff member for their courtesy.

We stayed 6 days at the Montague on the Gardens hotel in London. First the hotel is perfectly positioned in London right by the side of the British Museum and Covent Gardens. The street was quiet and lovely. The staff at this hotel really pay attention to details and the premises were immaculate, the staff wonderful, the rooms are by US standards a tad small but more than adequate and nicely appointed. The included breakfast was excellent. The veranda overlooking the gardens was a wonderful place to have afternoon tea and chill out. Moustafa and Jorge, the two concierge, were terrific. They know London, they know the tours, their directions were accurate, they made reservations for us. They made our stay a wonderful experience for my family and I would highly recommend this hotel!

From the excellent website, we already had some high expectations of The Montague. Upon our arrival, Sal checked us in and saw to our every need. Bloomsbury was the perfect location in London; quiet residential street, near Russell Square, the tubes and The British Museum, which was right across the street. Our room was beautifully decorated with a view of the gardens. The bathroom was huge and well appointed. The hotel is quaint and charming and the customer service was second to none. Mustafa the concierge, went above and beyond any request....and he knew his restaurants; every one he recommended was more delicious than the last one. Every part of our stay added to our London experience and we would highly recommend this hotel to other seasoned travelers.

This hotel does indeed deserve its rating. We stayed here for a combination of business and leisure, as a family of 3 ourselves along with work colleagues in 3 other rooms. My young daughter was treated like a princess (we had to employ anti-spoiling tactics! ).

We booked a Bloomsbury deluxe room on the advise of the reservations team and had a huge room on two levels. At the entry level there is a bathroom and then down beside the staircase was tucked a single bed/divan which our daughter LOVED as her own little bedroom. Then down a couple of steps was the main bed, a few tables and chairs, and a huge flat screen TV. We had a garden view room over the private garden - while the hotel guests don't have access it does provide a beautiful outlook and the surprising sound of birds in the morning and no traffic noise - in central London!

Other highlights:
- location near to British Museum is great for families - you can pop in any time. Montague St is also a quiet street as I believe the traffic is restricted.
- free wifi worked great
- great concierge who assisted my husband and daughter with their sightseeing while I was working
- wonderful breakfasts - try the poached eggs
- great dinners, as a large group of up to 10 we ended up eating in quite often during the week. The service was excellent.
- The hotel lent us a DVD player and a few kids movies. These were great to fill in the time after a day's sightseeing until dinner, when our daughter was pretty tired. When the movies had been watched they went out and bought some more and delivered them to our room! It was really over and above as we were prepared to buy some ourselves.
- the whole experience was very intimate - even though there are quite a lot of rooms, and the hotel was full on some nights, the staff still remember your name and you don't spend a long time waiting for the lift (as I have done at other large London hotels).

The smaller rooms were tight for my colleagues, but they asked for some furniture to be removed which was promptly done, and offered to store suitcases after unpacking which worked well.

So, really recommend this hotel to business travellers and families with kids - the service is excellent and the location great. We can't wait to return!

We spent a week at the hotel for our anniversary and really enjoyed our stay. The room was good sized (especially compared to what I expected in Europe) and very quiet (looked out over the garden). The location was great - across the side street from the British Museum and just about 3 blocks from the Russell Square Tube Station. Everyone was very nice - I'd never stayed at a hotel where I was always greeted when entering the lobby before! Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Free WiFi was nice.

We had a problem with hot water in the shower (but not the tub) and ended up getting moved to a suite for the rest of our stay (plus some days comped). The night manager (Sal?) who did this went way beyond what we expected.

We will definitely stay here again if/when we get back to London

We pass through London several times a year and began using the Montague when the Eurostar Terminal moved to St Pancras. It has always been superb. The staff are excellent ,very efficient and friendly. The rooms and public areas are a delight. The restaurant is the last chance to eat some English Comfort Food before heading off into the Europe. The location could not be better with the British Museum a short walk away. The National Gallery and National Portrait Gallery are a bit further but the walk is still an easy one. Bloomsbury is a lovely quiet little enclave in bustling London but if you want bustle it is never too far away.We are always pleased to walk through the doors before and after a trip .
