“Nice hotel with nice people”
Reviewed 9 December 2010

Nice hotel with nice people. Very nice place and well located. The restaurante must have more alternative in the menu because is short to choose if you stay and use it during more than 2 days.

Very pretty hotel. Entrance area was wonderfully Victorian; the staff was quite attentive. One staff member showed us around the various amenities and explained the hours and what each of the different bars and rooms served. Considering how cold it was outside I certainly appreciated the hotel environment being heated comfortably. The room itself was somewhat of a disappointment considering the price. The shower had a "rain" type shower head, which really makes the shower only fit for one person at a time. The room was pretty small and the king-sized bed dominated the space. The flat screen TV was quite small and seemed comical. The king bed itself may have been two smaller mattresses belted together, since you could definitely tell that there was a bump in the middle. The sheets were not soft (perhaps they didn't use fabric softener?). The bump and the sheets made it somewhat difficult to get a good night's sleep.

We spent four nights at the Montague for a family vacation and could not have been more impressed. The entire staff was great and always available, but never intrusive. With a small hotel, one sees the same friendly faces of the staff each day, and these folks were terrific. The Concierge staff was very professional and helpful and always available and eager to offer his their help. Breakfast was perfect. Afternoon tea very traditional and excellent. Terrific location. Tasteful Christmas decor for the holidays. Only negative was the small size of the rooms (we had two), but the amenities were wonderful and unique - right down to the book mark left for our open book on the nightstand. We would stay here again and recommend to all.

My wife and I booked a stay in the Montague in April 2010 as part of our honeymoon. The staff were truly excellent. There were fresh complimentary flowers (on the bed, in the bath, all over the room) each evening. The staff were exceptionally helpful. The hotel itself is a treat, with beautiful unique rooms. The location is very good, with easy access to most of the London attractions. I strongly recommend the Montague.

This is a lovely little hotel and my husband and I agree with all the comments about the staff and location - I'd be sorry to stay anywhere else in London. We think though, that breakfast is pricey. (For that money, I'd expect breakfast cooked to order, not a hot buffet which is bever as good). Similarly, while the restaurant is pretty good, I'd expect a higher quality for the money. My advice would be to go round the corner for breakfast (Ruskin's cafe or the local Costa are both close by) - but never stay anywhere else!

We stayed at the Montague for 2 nights while in London. The hotel is an older building, but has been perfectly restored. It was decorated for the holidays with real Christmas trees that smelt beautiful in the main lobby/lounges. Check-in was a breeze and we were even given a tour of the hotel where we were explained each room/service hours. Our bedroom was beautiful and nice decorated. It was very small and almost hard to walk around with luggage, but we made it work. The king sized bed was amazing and I slept like a baby. We also went to the piano bar for drinks and service was top notch. Overall, a great hotel that will not disappoint.

Just wanted to add my comments to all the other positive reviews on The Montague. We stayed here for one week and found it to be just what we were looking for. The lovely room, the cleanliness throughout the hotel, the very professional and friendly staff, and the location within walking distance of everywhere we wanted to go in central London. We had a perfect stay.
