“Decent hotel in Central London”
Reviewed 3 January 2010

We stayed 1 night at Radisson Blu Portman Square on a Saturday night.
We used air miles for our booking, so paid nothing, but were given an upgrade to a junior suite on the 9th floor.
Junior suite was very spacious. Decor is dated in places, but pleasant. Bed big and very comfortable. Junior suite also had a sofa, armchair and large coffee table. Bathroom was spacious and modern, with separate bath and shower cubicle.
Breakfast buffet was very good, with a wide selection of juices, fruit, cold cuts, cereals, pastries and hot buffet. The hot buffet in particular was among the best I've ever had, with apparently high quality ingredients and "fresh-cooked" taste.
Negative comments would be:
- The outside of the hotel is ugly, but don't let this put you off.
- Even on the 9th floor, street noise was quite loud at night. The windows are old and would need updating for proper sound-proofing.
- The shower head is positioned at approx. 5'8" (170cm). I am 6'7" (203cm), so could not actually stand up straight in the cubicle.

I stayed there twice. They upgraded us to the business room with free internet access and fitness room. Staff are very helpful. It is only 3 minutes walk to Oxford Street. Excellent location for shopping and business meeting. The room was very clean with a comfortable bed. Highly recommended

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights with a friend on a christmas shopping trip. The hotel is in an excellent location in a side street just off Oxford Street. It was minutes from the nearest tube stop and we felt very safe walking back at night. Perfectly handy for popping back to drop off shopping bags halfway through the day too!

We booked a business class twin room, requesting a high floor and we were on the top floor (10th) which was very quiet and had a view over London (Room 1004). The room was very well equipped with tea making facs, iron & ironing board, hairdryer, bathrobes, slippers and toiletries. The room was also spotlessly clean.

Breakfast was served in a quiet room on the ground floor and had everything that you could ask for.

The service we received from the front desk and concierge through to the breakfast room staff and room service staff was excellent. Everyone was very professional, attentive, friendly and above all 'happy'. I work in the travel industry and finding 'happy' staff in hotels isn't always easy. Nothing was too much trouble. This one just seemed to get it right. I shall definitely stay here on my next visit and will recommend it to friends and many of my clients too.

Highly recommended!

Nice lobby, good location to Oxford Street and Selfridges etc., Staff nice enough but not 5 star exceptional. Rooms are very small compared to similar hotels like Marriot Edgeware Road. Room service is very expensive. I think the 1/2 bottle of wine in the mini bar was about £20!!!! Overall a good location, but unless your company is paying I am not sure this is the best option in the area. Checked for good rates on getroomscheaper.com but the hotel prices seem to range significantly by £130 to £250 depending on when you are staying so do check other hotels in the same area to get the best rate.

The hotel is situated in a good area if you are there for tourism.
Staff is polite and nice, especially at the bar in the evening.
Rooms are clean and confortable.
The only thing is that at Breakfast they are probably understaffed during the weekend, we had to wait more than 15 minutes for 1 cappucino.

We Stayed for four nights from Sept 9 - 13th. We reached hotel at 7.30am in the morning . After 20 hours flight you are so tired you just want to go to your room & rest. Receptionist was so helpful, that we got our room by 9.30am. We were very happy with the service.

Excellent Location. Just five minutes to Oxford Street. Breakfast in the hotel is very good. Worth the money.

Room was very clean. Quite location. Selfridges food court is just five minutes from the hotel. We enjoyed our stay.
