We never used or explore the full range of the hotel's facility as I had suffered a serious fall and was very restricted in my activities, I am therefore unable to comment on existence of a fitness centre and/or swimming pool.
The hotel is well sited for getting around in the Central London area. rooms and public areas were very well maintained and serviced.
There was more than one restaurant to chose from; but due to my situation, my husband and I opted for meals in our room. This was readily accommodated, and we were free to choose any item on the menu. All the staff were very helpful and pleasant.

Room Tip: My husband and I were on the street level floor; the reception desk was half-floor higher (mezzanine...

Where to I begin...

First of all finding the car park was a nightmare! After circling the hotel four times we decided to ring the hotel for directions to the car park, to which they gave us the wrong ones. It wasn't until they explained that it was at the rear of the hotel and gave the street name that we found it...

Once parked, we decided to use the back door to enter the hotel, after being buzzed in. The first thing we were hit with was water rushing down from the fire escape and a mattress left by the door... not a very good first impression. Then the smell of disinfectant hit us...

After clambering the stairs to reception we were greeted by the reception staff who were happy to help. They took a £129 hold on our card, which I expected and took our car keys in-case they needed to move our car for security purposes. I have never been asked to hand over my car keys before but after reading reviews this did seem common practice.

We got to our room and it was quite spacious. We asked for a family room which we got; three single beds and a cot. There was no duvets for any of the beds just a sheet, a yellowish blanket and a net(ish) bed throw. The carpet was thread bare and the noise from the traffic was dreadful!

Next we found the bathroom... The stench of disinfectant was strong, the taps looked grubby, the tiles on the wall were cracked and the bath was just big enough for the 2 1/2 year old that came with us.

We came to London to visit Hyde Park Winter Wonderland. This hotel is at the other end of Hyde park and we were advised to get a Tube or a bus, which wasn't a problem and the bus driver and those working in the underground were really helpful!!

We got back to our hotel room after a long day to find our television wouldn't work and had to call for someone to look at it. Someone did arrive promptly and it looked like it was a faulty plug, but it was fixed and the only small issue then was there were no BBC channels...

We did not sleep a wink! I understand it is an old building but the windows were so thin all you could hear all night was traffic, beeping of horns police and ambulance sirens!

A continental breakfast was included in our price (well if you could call it that..). We were shown to our table in a cramped (very pink) restaurant, we were offered tea and coffee and that was the last we seen of the waitresses. We tried to order a cook breakfast to which we were told there would be an additional charge of £6 and to ask we had to go find a waitress ourselves and then again to order toast. This wouldn't have been a problem if it was busy but all the waitresses were just stood around talking. The buffet area was tiny you could fit two people in there at a time and it consisted of very dry muffins, bagels which you needed a chainsaw to cut, a few pastries, a bowl of fruit, a bowl of yoghurt and boiled eggs. Not the usual selection for a continental breakfast....

On the whole the reception staff were helpful but this is the only positive thing I can think of for this hotel. The hotel was cheap for London and we can now see why. We would not stay at this hotel again!

A good location at the edge of Hyde Park, excellent for Winter Wonderland and shopping. The hotel is in need of a bit of updating. The only grumble really is if you have a pushchair or pram you cannot fit in the lift as we discovered when we arrived, my daughter and grandaughter were put on the fourth floor but could'nt get up there so had to change rooms after a long wait eventually got to our rooms. Not much variety for a continental breakfast but other than that a nice stay.

Just stayed here for three nights, Everything was excellent. Close to tube, bus stops right out front and Paddington station short walk away. We had the pleasure of being in the Conservatory Suite which was excellent. The staff were always ready to answer any question and meet any need. Breakfast room is very nice and options for breakfast were plentiful. Would stay here again.

Lovely location at the edge of Hyde Park, helpful and friendly staff, nice breakfast in a lovely bright breakfast room. Older structure that needs a bit of updating but comfortable for a quick visit at an honest price considering the location.

Booked for a 2 night stay based on profile and comments. Paid a bit more than I wanted to but, hey, its London.

The pluses - great location across the road from the Central line and opposite Hyde Park, though not much going on in the immediate vicinity in the evening as more residential than commercial. The staff seemed attentive and eager to help - too attentive on 1 occasion as I'll mention later. English breakfast was decent and the lounge area comfy, and that's about it.

Negatives - lift is possibly the smallest I've ever been in. If travelling as a couple, you will find it difficult to both fit in with anything more than hand luggage. That might be bearable if you had any indication as to where the lift was when pressing the button, the exterior display has broken, and when in the lift as the interior display was non-existent and the lift very slow, so be prepared to do a lot of exercise on the stairs.

The room - I don't think I have stayed in a room so small in my recent memory and that includes previous trips to London room (330 for anyone booking). No courtesy beverage set in the room, but if there was, there would be nowhere to put it.

The room decor was gently "distressed" as was the hotel generally and the bathroom small with little shelf space, both the basin taps were very hard to turn off and the cistern flush handle at a crazy angle making it difficult to use.

With a corridor fire door just outside next to the room, every time someone went through it and let the door swing shut, the bed head juddered.

And we "suspect" that room service may have helped themselves to a small part full bottle of Clinique perfume as it was on the dressing table amongst other cosmetics in the morning and not in the evening on our return, and the room is so small, it was very easy to search it from top to bottom.

So all in all, would have been 3 stars but for the perfume missing which added to a not very impressive stay.
