“Delightful sun trap terrace”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2014

We stopped in here one hot Sunday afternoon for a cream tea on the terrace, and I'm so glad we did. It's a secluded little sun trap decoarted with countless roses (100 according to the hotel).

The hotel itself is a really rather dated, and the terrace could use a little love to make it super sharp, but the service was great, the staff were really friendly and it was good value.

The cream tea (£6 each) includes tea or coffee, plus two mini scones and two mini cakes each. There's also a full afternoon tea for which includes sandwiches as well for £10pp or £19 for two. See more about the menu here: http://www.londonelizabethhotel.com/media/pdfs/afternoon-tea-menu.pdf

There is free wifi in the hotel, but it seems to depend on your device whether the signal reaches you on the terrace.

Having walked past many times but never been in, now I know the quiet terrace is there I'll definitely be visiting again.

I stayed in a small room and it was quite difficult and dangerous to get in and out of the bath tub for my showers. Plumming is also dated with difficulty to adjust the water temperature.Wifi is very good and easy to connect to and the staff is friendly and helpfull. The buffet breakfast is not impressive mainly bread and pastries with jam,but with a good fresh fruit salad. The lift is old and slow so it's better to live on a low floor.

This hotel is not a modern, cookie-cutter hotel. I felt I had stepped back in time. All the charm one would expect in an old hotel: small, very cozy bar, comfortable reception area, tiny elevator, great location.....Paddington station is four blocks away and Underground across street from hotel. Just by chance I got upgraded to a suite - I felt I was in some British manor house and that some royalty was going to sweep into my huge siting room with fireplace, French windows and balconies, tons of old classic furniture. My bedroom was large, but had horrible lighting (don't plan on reading in bed). There was also a balcony off the bedroom.

Good continental breakfast. Very civilized experience. In all fairness, I believe most rooms are smaller and old fashion BUT the charm still exists.

Location is ideal - across the street from Lancaster Gate tube station and entrance to Hyde Park. Room, a deluxe twin, was very spacious, clean and comfortable. Common areas very nice. Elected to include bfast and glad we did. Food was good and plenty for starting the day. Staff very accommodating and helpful. Will definitely be a repeat customer.

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms will give you additional space. worth it!

We stayed here one night, before flying back to USA.
The staff was very helpful is arranging us transportation to Heathrow in the early morning and even gave us coffee while we waited for the other gals to come down in the morning. ( 4 of us) 10:00 am flight)
The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms were clean, may need updated a bit but was just fine .

We were able to wlk to Oxford Street for shopping and many restaurants
I had no complaints.

Room Tip: Lower floor, very small lift!

Stayed here for three days with two friends. We had spacy room on 4th floor. The room was a bit worn out, but ok. Windows faced to street, so it was noisy, although it was on 4th floor! But fortunately we had ear-plugs :) Elevator is really small and stairs made us feel a bit "dizzy", because the two last floor´s steps were so slanting. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was ok, though not very wide. The location is great, it's next to beautiful Kensington Gardens, Notting Hill and Lancaster Gate underground (red line) takes you easily to Oxford Circus and Bond Street. We used Gatwick airport and it's easy to get there via Victoria station.

This little hotel is nicely located with a bus stop out front. The tube is very close and we have stayed here before so we knew the perks and minuses. Some rooms are dated but there is English charm and all are clean. The continental breakfast is pretty good and Hyde Park is a stones throw away, a plus as it is a welcome friend to Susan and I to end the day before retiring. The value is reasonable and service is good, generally rooms in the back are better but sleeping has never been a problem here. I can't complain about the free breakfast, nor should you ,stay at a 4 or 5 star hotel (we have) and you will get none without a hefty cost. I would stay again if we weren't so much happier in South Kensington, but this could change.

Room Tip: the hotel is usually pretty booked so rooms are likely pot luck on arrival , generally stay in a bac...
