A small hotel in a safe and quiet section of the Qeensway/Bayswater area. I was given a single room, small, but sufficient for my needs, clean and cleverly organized (with free wifi). The staff was courteous and efficient and the overall experience pleasant. There is room for improvement (for example the products served for breakfast are of industrial quality), but I would say that what they offer is value for money. Recommendable!

Room Tip: Book well in advance.

Wanted a hotel in central London when going to a concert. Location was great, few minutes walk from Circle & Central lines. Hotel itself was fine and liked the comfortable chairs dotted throughout the entrance. Downside was the ground floor room we stayed in, very small considering that to stay here is not cheap.

Room Tip: ask about room size when booking

This hotel is great. The room was cleaned every day. Perfect service, good breakfast. Close to tube, park, shops and restaurants. The Westminster and London eye are 18-20 min. with the tube. We recommend Phoenix Hotel to everybody.

Five minutes walk from Bayswater and less than 10 from Queensway underground stations, this hotel is located on a relatively quiet square just off Queensway.
Mary, the general manager, Alba and Alex on reception guarantee a warm welcome and show a very friendly, professional and helpful attitude.
Of course, not everything is perfect: the small lift sometimes takes a while to arrive at or from the upper floors and the rooms and bathrooms are small. Apart from some corridor noise, the rooms are fairly quiet, however, particularly at the back of the hotel. The bed is comfortable, but not many have travelled to London to stay in the room.
The bar area is cosy and Jesus the barman from Brazil serves drinks which are actually cheaper than those in the many surrounding pubs, which, nevertheless all have their attractions. Restaurants are in abundance, within a couple of minutes walk, specialising in a huge variety of international cuisine, both on Queensway and to the north of the Whiteley Centre (London's first ever department store virtually opposite the hotel) on Westbourne Grove.
Breakfast at the hotel is "OK", but the quality of the cooked breakfast was rather disappointing and the "continental" breakfast rather monotonous with its ham or cheddar cheese and spongy bread rolls. The basement breakfast room gets very crowded too, so maybe seek an alternative breakfast option.
But, all in all, the BW Phoenix is well worth consideration for a short stay in London.

Quiet place in a very good location, near of Queensway underground station. Free wifi in all premises! Enough bathroom amenities and confortable beds. Breakfast is ok but it lacks of a wider variety of fruits.

The best thing about this hotel is it's location.
Well placed for all the amenities of Bayswater and a 5 minute walk to the tube station.
The hotel itself is adequate and the price is quite good for London, breakfast included which is unusual.

First impressions are good. A lovely white painted building, the hotel sits at the edge of a square, minutes away from Whiteleys shopping center.
The reception area is nice but a little dated. None of the staff are English but speak the language well. Their understanding of the English language however, is quite poor. Asking for anything other than hotel instructions is a waste of time, they do not understand.
Check in/out was easy and quick.
The waiter in the bar was lovely, so helpful and polite, but very over worked.

The lift as mentioned is minute and very slow.

As other reviewers have mentioned the hotel is a little worn and dated, but very clean. Our double room was adequate size but the shower room was so tiny that the shower had caused water damage to the door, and really needed updating. The toilet was loose and the shower well used, although very clean and plenty of hot water.
The bed was very uncomfortable, maybe the mattress needed re-newing, but again lovely clean bedding. Over all the room was adequate for our needs and not unpleasent.

Breakfast is served in the basement.
It is buffet style but with the option of purchasing full English etc.
Tables are nicely set and unlimited tea or coffee served. The buffet itself is very good quality. Every kind of cereal, ham & other meats, yogurt, eggs, juices, rolls/croissants/toast and many different conserves etc. There is something for every taste.

As mentioned the hotel is in Bayswater. This is a thriving, bustling place. There are shops, supermarkets and many restaurants all within walking distance of the hotel. Buses stop at the end of the street outside Whiteleys.
There are 2 tube stations both with a regular and late service. The one nearest the hotel has no lift (like many of the smaller stations), so be prepared for 2 flights of stairs, a bit of a nightmare if you have mobility problems.
Walking distance to Kensington Palace and Hyde park. Kensington High street is minutes away.

Overall this hotel was very good value for money, especially for London and we would definately go back.
If like us, you have mobility problems it is excellent because of the locallity of all of the ammenities.
As I said, the steps at the tube stations are a problem but if you keep to the side (so commuters can pass easily) and take your time it is more than worth it. Buses are frequent and easier to use, but a trip from Kings Cross to Bayswater takes about an hour compared with using the tube, which is about 20 mins at the most.
My advice to anyone with problems walking etc is to plan each route before you go. There are some good apps and also the TFL website has a route planner. I did this and found that we had no unnecessary walking.
This trip was for a hospital appointment at the Hammersmith but we also took time to see some of the sights that London has to offer.

Room Tip: If you ask for a large room they generally have tiny bathrooms. The people who were with us had a mu...

The Phoenix Hotel is a perfectly acceptable middle of the road hotel. It's a little bit worn out inside, with an incredibly slow lift, rooms a little basic and just a bit creaky and worn in decor (carpets have old worn sections and the odd stain). However considering the age of the building and its location, the room was quiet. The staff were very friendly, and the breakfast crew was increadibly speedy in getting you set-down at your teable and served.

Breakfast was ok, it's not free, it's 6 pounds if not part of a B&B rate for a continental breakfast, and a cooked breakfast is an additional fee depending on what you order of around 8 pounds.
