My husband and I stayed at this hotel for three nights and were provided with a very small room in what seem to be lower ground floor under street level, with a window looking out to a small enclosed courtyard. With no air conditioning, a very small desk fan and no ability for a breeze to come in the window, we found the room uncomfortable to sleep in. It had a double bed, two small bedside tables, small wardrobe and a desk with mirror with no room to open a suitcase. One suitcase was partially stored in the wardrobe and the other at the end of the bed therefore only able to access the bed from the base of the bed, no room to walk around. Shower en-suite and separate toilet had been recently renovated and were very clean and tidy however as the room was so small the shower room had no door therefore no privacy from the bedroom when having a shower. On a positive note, reception staff very friendly, the breakfast was fresh and adequate and the location fantastic. Easy walking distance to Hyde Park and the tube, even with luggage.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms on the second floor and higher to maybe get a breeze through the windows.

As a single traveller this hotel was just perfect!! Comfortable King Single bed & free guest wifi....what more would you want. Wonderful customer service!!!! Bathroom was quite small but not unmanageable. And this is a great spot just near Kensington Garden Square & 2 blocks away from Bayswater Tube station ( one stop from Paddington Railway Station) also the abundance of food (chain as well as locally own) and health (Boots, Midnight Pharmacy) stores just around the corner :)

Just back from another 2 day weekend stay at the Phoenix. Staff are excellent and the Hotel has retained its usual high standard that I have come to expect over the years. Manageress is one of the most helpful persons I have been in contact with when making bookings.

I have had the pleasure of staying at this hotel twice a year for many years. It is our favourite place to celebrate our birthdays by taking a theatre break, The Phoenix is the icing on the cake. The staff are friendly and professional. The welcome is warm. The beds are particularly comfortable and the rooms cosy and extremely clean. They offer both a continental and cooked breakfast. I have never had the cooked breakfast as there is such a good choice of continental options but I have seen others eating a cooked breakfast which looks quite appetising. The reception and public rooms have had a recent makeover which is modern and tasteful. The location is absolutely wonderful with two tube stations nearby and easy access to buses. Just a short walk away is Kensington Park, if you have time it is nice to walk through the park into Hyde Park and come out at Marble Arch. Highly recommended - you won't be disappointed.

Absolutely great location (near to the tube, a small shopping center, Kensington Gardens and Notting Hill). A little outdated, but really nice in kind of a retro way. Very clean and cozy rooms and good breakfast.

This is awful. Where to start?

Very small room.

Spoke to reception about organising an early breakfast as we had a tour to meet. They were fine with this and one of the young men from reception actually brought us our coffee in the dining room from the kitchen. There was also another couple having an early breakfast. I poked my head in to the kitchen as the receptionist had gone and asked the woman there for another coffee. Wow, did I get into trouble. Obviously no one had told her there would be people in early for breakfast and she was really angry and told me to get out until 7 am. I didn't say anything at the time as she may not have been feeling well.

After we had left the hotel to join another tour I realised my camera was missing. It had been sitting beside my suitcase in the hotel room. I called the Phoenix and they said they would check with housekeeping. No one bothered to ring back.

Not somewhere I would recommend staying.

I have booked a single room, the bed is really small, mattress is very soft, sitting on the edge, I might fall off the bed. The bathroom is really small too, don't suggest for big people...location is good, inside residence area, quiet at night, the bayswater station is about ten mins walk.

Overall,it's good and comfortable stay.
