“Good hotel - with a couple of niggles”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2014

First things first, this is part of a budget chain of hotels, & for a little over £80.00 in this area of London - it's fair value. The hotel looks like a block of flats/office building from the outside - but looks a pretty decent hotel once inside. Room was clean & a fair size. Only problem with the room I had, was a maid walking in whilst on the loo - why?? I have NO IDEA.
Breakfast was a let down, especially when they charge so much extra for it. I was staying in the hotel alone. I don't expect to find my table cleared, & other people sat in my space - if I go to fetch myself a glass of juice. All the cereal bowls were very warm - fresh out of a hot dishwasher... Not something you'd want to put milk & cold cereal into. Milk & juice - I had to ask for them to be replenished - as the canisters they were in had been left empty. The sausages - the most burnt & gristly things I've seen called sausages. Poor.
Would I stay here again? Yes, but I'd eat elsewhere

Room Tip: Eat elsewhere!

You can always rely on Ibis to provide a clean, comfortable room. No surprises at the Earls Court Ibis, just a good standard of room and service. We were on the 6th floor at the back of the hotel - bliss. Windows open all night and no disturbance from the street! We will definitely use this hotel again.

Stopped here for 5 nights. Had a room on floor 12 which had a fantastic view of London.

Room was clean and comfortable. Room was cleaned and towels changed everyday.

Staff were friendly and polite.

Breakfast buffet was tasty, plentiful and a good variety.

Would stop here again.

I did have some reservations about staying at an Ibis hotel as having some previous awful stays over the years, has left me with dread. But I was pleasantly surprised. The checkin was quick but it was 10pm at night and the room was spotlessly clean which for the usual overpriced London hotels was a big plus. I had free WiFi which again was a surprise with a strong steady signal. The had windows to get fresh London smog air so I woke up without feeling freeze dried with a desperate thirst for water. It's a 5min walk from West Brompton tube station which was good for me although that stn has no escalator or lift. So I'd recommend it for a short business stay or for tourists.

Room, location:
Room are basic but quite okay. Cleanliness could improve especially at room corners. Quite close to "West Bromptom" subway (tube) station and bus station in front of hotel which is a plus. Bus 74 is very useful going to upscale London neighborhood like Kensington, Knightbridge and Hyde park area. Those are the desirable area for eating, window shopping. But the whole neighborhood near hotel is somewhat old.

Food:
This is a big let down. I decided to try some late evening snacks/tapas. Wings are ok but fried calamari is weak (it is undercooked inside may be because of very thick crust). Bread offered is very hard and tasteless.
Then, I had breakfast next day and wow, slices of bread are really bad and taste like "chewing cardboard." I had pity for Brits as some of them might buy those cheap bread which otherwise should not be in market for consumption. I had much better bread in developing countries and some are considered among poorest. Only thing good there is croissants. When I am in another Ibis @ Amsterdam Airport, man, food is just day and night!

I stayed for three nights and payed £90 for one night and £120 for the other two which included breakfast. I have to say the hotel was excellent value for money, clean and functional. The rooms were basic as you would expect but quiet and comfortable. Nice comfy beds. The staff throughout the hotel were helpful and polite. The food was basic and average - but what you would expect. I was not looking forward to my stay (I had to the in the area for work) but I was pleasantly surprised and would definitely stay again if I needed to be in the area. There were also some really lovely restaurants within a short walk.
