“well located, room quality appalling”
Reviewed 16 August 2014

We enjoyed the convenient location and the reasonable breakfast. However bathroom quality is similar to a 1970's youth hostel and there were 2 fans in the room to compensate for lack of AC in a stiffling warm room. We did not sleep much because you hear noise of all other rooms. Avoid!!!

Only a 2 min walk from Earls court tube station. The check-in was very quick. The room and bathroom was very clean and great value for money. The breakfast was a bonus and the free left luggage was great. You will will struggle to find a budget hotel in a decent location for this price (£75). WI-FI was more than adequate.

Lots of places to eat and drink nearby.

I stayed at the Amsterdam Hotel for six nights while vacationing in and around London. They recently redid the rooms, and my sister's and my shared room was just lovely. The room itself was not big (two double beds, attached desk, nightstand, plus a bathroom), but we didn't need it to be, as we only used the room for sleeping.

The room was very clean and modern. The beds were comfortable. The staff at the hotel was wonderful; very nice, very accommodating; we realized about a week before our trip that we had, in error, booked an extra night at the beginning, and they refunded us without a problem, which I hadn't really expected. That was really nice of them.

The Amsterdam is super conveniently located around the block from the Earl's Court Underground station; if you're touring in central London, you'll be happy (as I am that I did) that you stayed here: the Central, District, and Piccadilly lines run right out of this station, and there are lots of tourist destinations along those routes. If you're flying in from Heathrow, the Piccadilly line takes you practically from the airport to your hotel room door.

There are two tweaks the hotel needs to make that, in my book, would push them up to excellent: 1.) Air conditioning. London is hot in the summer, and the lack of air conditioning was felt. The room has a small desk fan, which my sister and I put on top of the desk chair, which we put in the middle of our two beds; it helped, but just. 2.) The bathroom was in the room, and it was mostly fine, except that the shower has no bottom enclosure to stop the spread of water. I've stayed in hotels throughout Europe, and, believe me, there are worse showers than this one out there, but the bathroom flooded every night, no matter how creative we got with towel and bath mat placement, or how we aimed the shower. That made the bathroom uncomfortable to use after our nightly showers.

Still, the problems I encountered (even no air conditioning in July) were minor, and the next time I'm in London, I'll be back at the Amsterdam. It's location, excellent service, and comfortable bedrooms make it a hospitable and reasonably priced place to stay in London.

<5 mins walk from Earls Court tube station, location is great. Room size was OK, but decor and furnishings are generally tired. No A/C, WiFi is low speed. Hotel staff are pleasant and helpful. Overall, it's a good value for a London hotel. You can get much better by moving further out of the center, but you'll pay much more for higher quality in the same location.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights 16-18 July.
1. Location is very good, direct tube from Heathrow, Earl's Court st. bustling with many restaurants and very convenient tube to center of London.
2. Days were very hot!! no air-condition, no ceiling fan, just a small portable desk fan, which didn't do the job.
3. In order to keep room temp. bearable had to open window - noise from Earl's Court st. is VERY loud - couldn't really sleep the 2 nights.
I would definitely not recommend this hotel in the summer. Can be a good choice for a budget hotel when days aren't that hot.

Room Tip: ask for a room not facing TREBOVIER st.

Came back to this hotel for the third or fourth time and it is still a good choice in my opinion. We got a triple room this time as we had our 6 years old son with us. The room was spacious and clean. The hair dryer was not working but they fixed it immediately. Staff were helpful and polite. The only donwside was that the room, facing the road, was a bit noisy as it was too hot to keep the window closed. Also, the double bed was a bit too small and the mattress had seen better days. But overall the stay was pleasant.
Breakfast was not very varied but, as always, acceptable.
If you keep in mind the excellent location one minute walk from Earl's Court station, this remains one of the best value for money hotels in London.

Room Tip: Better ask for a room facing the inside.

Lady at the reception is very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. Thank you!

Hotel's location is great as only 2 mins walk to Earl's Court tube station (with lift from platform - good for elderly people) and surrounded by restaurants, food outlets, and supermarkets.

Our room was a bit small (with 2 double beds and not many spaces left to open all big luggages) but still worked fine. Bathroom was also clean and good. The room had a door access to shared balcony and window opening to trees...nice and airy though we didn't go out as it was raining and the balcony's floor was wet.

Continental Breakfast was fine/adequate and staff were there to ensure that nothing was run out.

Lift worked. Wifi in room also worked.

Would consider staying here again if in London.
