Disappointing for a Radisson.

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 28 Oct 2019
The hotel is in a good location. There are two/three tube stations within a couple of minutes walk. The reception staff are very welcoming and reception is warm and inviting.

However, the room I had was tiny. It's a sqaush and a squeeze to get to the toilet between the basin and the shower. To use the toilet (as a man) I had to straddle the pan rather than stand in front of it, otherwise the basin would have been in the way. Equally, if I had needed to sit on the pan, I would have head butted the basin.

I ordered the burger as a main and the cheese course as a desert. The burger was quite possibly the driest thing I've had to eat in quite some time. There was nothing enjoyable about it. The lack of moistness sucked all the flavour out of the burger, the bacon and the cheese. If I hadn't seen it I wouldn't have believed that either the bacon or the cheese was there (and I've just realsied that there was supposed to be a chilli mayo). The 'brioche bun' was also dry/stale.

The cheese course was a polar opposite to my bathroom experience. It was ridiculously enormous. There was about 150g of cheese, 10 crackers and some number of soggy leaves and mushy pickled walnuts. Not enjoyable in anyway.

C'mon Radisson, you can do better than this (I've stayed in some of your Scandinavian hotels). I know there will be a reply that says "i'm so glad you recognsied the warm and welcoming reception but I'm sorry you didn't have an enjoyable eating experience. Please reach out to us to.". However, people who read reviews realise that it is the experience of the guest that matters. It's not just that I had a bad experience. It's likely that it is like this all the time but the replies from the hotel will try to make it seem like it was a one off.

If you want a hotel in W1 that is mid/low price, and you don't mind small (and I mean small) rooms, and you intend to eat out, then consider staying here if you can get a cheap deal.

Dear Turzum,

thank you for staying with us at Radisson Blu Edwardian Grafton and for leaving your review.

I appreciate your feedback in regards to the room as well as your room service order. I am sorry to see you found your room to be small and your food not enjoyable. Please note that we do have rooms available, such as Standard Double or Premium room, which would have been more spacious. I will pass on your feedback in regards to the hamburger and cheese platter which you had ordered to the head chef, so that he can prevent this from happening in the future.

I do hope we'll be able to welcome you back to the Grafton hotel in the future, so that we may allocate you with a different room and a better experience.

Kind regards,

Kajsa Schultz

Lovely stay, very convenient for the city and something a bit special. I would recommend upgrading to the premium room it's fabulous for the little extra it costs. The buffet breakfast is great and definitely worth adding to your booking.

Dear Martin,

Thank you for staying with us at Radisson Blu Edwardian Grafton and for leaving your review.

I am excited to see you had a lovely stay and enjoyed the comfort of one of our Premium rooms. It is great you had the chance to try our breakfast buffet and would recommend this to others. Possibly on a next visit, you will have the opportunity to try our Steak & Lobster dinner menu as well.

We look forward to welcoming you back to the Grafton hotel next time you visit London.

Kind regards,

Kajsa Schultz

Chose this hotel because I knew the area! Attended a Seminar in central London therefore proximity was important!
Level of service was good and staff very polite! Enjoyed breakfast! Room was clean and bathroom facility just nice.
I would recommend the hotel both for business and pleasure.

Nice start to booking with ability to use app to check in and advise when room is available. Received notification room was ready and to pick key up from concierge. Arrived at hotel to be advised by rude female that I would have to go to reception and join large queue to pick up key. Eventually male colleague got key! Nice room, arrived for breakfast next morning to find extremely large booking in progress, able to order off separate menu if willing to wait minimum of 30 minutes. Good location but need to rethink rude staff member at concierge desk and seating for breakfast. Would not return too much choice in London
