My basement room cost me not much more than £100 at less than 24 hours notice, and can barely be faulted. Tiny, yes, but the three-quarter size double bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning was beautifully cold. I used the fridge but not the other cooking facilities, but have real admiration for the way that a full kitchen has somehow been shoehorned into a room the size of your average student bedroom.

Good shower, excellent free toiletries, including toothbrush and paste, albeit in a bathroom no bigger than a couple of phone kiosks. But again, no issue at all with the size. You know what you're getting here.

Sash window was openable both top and bottom (but barred on the outside - this is London after all. The pull down blind barely reached the bottom of the window and didn't do much to block out the light, and THAT is my only complaint! Everything else was spot on. Good tv with loads of channel choice. Excellent free wifi. Loads of power sockets, wardrobe and drawer space. Reception efficient and very helpful, even phoning my mislaid phone until I found it. This place is a gem, it's not luxury and is compact, but it's no more than a few minutes walk from Kings Cross, Russell Square & Euston tubes, and a bargain bolthole for a night away. Recommended, provided you know what you're letting yourself in for. I'll definitely be back.

Room Tip: I'm told the rooms at the rear are quieter and have garden access, but Cartwright Gardens is a fairly quiet crescent rather than a busy thoroughfare. Possibly noisier during University term time, but where isn't?

My wife and I stayed here in October 2013 for a weeklong trip in London from the States. The place was noticeably a little old and on the small side, but still wonderfully maintained and serviced.

Do spring a bit more for the upgraded rooms, it's absolutely worth it. My wife and I loved having a private garden in the back to chill out. I'd definitely stay here again on another trip to London.

Also check out The Rocket, which is not too far from this location. Awesome pub with great prices!

Lovely studio. Court yard to the back was nice. Fruit basket was an apple and an orange. Room as described, very small shower/toilet but clean and nice. Only 1 iron and board to share between a few studios. We waited a few hours for it to be free. Could supply more. Good value for money for location. 8 minutes from Kings cross train station. Would use again for price and location.

Room was booked for two people, was barely adequate for a single traveler.
No air conditioning though even the guest information guide in the room said every apartment had air conditioning. No where to put two suitcases without tripping over them. Room was literally just barely wider than the bed, which was collapsed in the middle making it hard for two people to sleep in.
Ensuite was ridiculously small, and the shower would be hard to move in even if the door had been able to close properly.
Staff were rude.

The only positive was the location.

The room was very very small, even for London standards. The bed appeared to be a sofa bed. When you laid on it you rolled into the middle. There was no air conditioning and the curtain did not keep any light out. We had two large suite cases which did not fit into the room. The bathroom was so small you sat on the toilet and your knees touched the wall!! Don't drop the soap in the shower as you could not pick it up!

To top it off a staff member (one in particular) was very rude.

Would not recommend the suite with balcony.

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor apartment if you have large suite cases as there is no elevator
