I was very glad I decided to go with Chilworth Court Apartments after having done some extensive research on suitable serviced apartments in Central London. I wanted a 2-bedroom 2-bathroom apartment in a good location which was below 200 pounds a night. Chilworth Court was it. The location was excellent being only down the road from Paddington Station and a few minutes walk away from Lancaster Gate tube station which is on the Central Line which was very convenient for Oxford Street. Hyde Park is also a few minutes walk away and we managed to brave the cold and walk through it right down to Knightsbridge on a day when the tube workers went on strike! The apartments are on a quiet residential road with some other hotels and aparthotels nearby so it was very peaceful at night.
The apartments were recently renovated and all the rooms were modern, nicely-decorated, very clean and comfortable. Central heating was just right. The floors in the living dining area were laminated. The kitchen and bathrooms were tiled. There was carpeting in the bedrooms.
I was told by the agent from whom I booked that there was a TV in the living room and bedrooms but it turned out that there was no TV in the bedrooms. This was a disappointment as I like to watch TV in bed at night. But it was not the management's fault and it was a small issue. The TV had many channels including some satellite channels.
A reviewer on another site had said she had issues with the washing machine. I did too. I could not get the machine to spin despite several tries and thus had to wring out the water from the clothes manually and dry for some time in the dryer. Another issue is that it takes some time for the water from the shower to heat up again after 2 people had showered. Otherwise, the appliances worked fine. The free broadband internet connection worked fine and I was able to access emails from the office without any problems.
It was good to be able to come back to a cozy comfortable apartment after a cold and long day outside. There were several restaurants and cafes within close walking distance and 3 supermarkets, one of which was just next door so getting groceries and ready-made meals was not a problem.
The front desk service were friendly and efficient. There was daily maid service and the towels and linen were changed every 3 days. The lift goes up to the 3rd floor so if you are on the 4th floor, you would have to take the stairs. If you are hesitant to book the superior 2-bedroom which is on the lower ground floor, don't worry. That was the apartment we got and it was perfectly fine with windows that looked out onto the pavement above.
All in all, I think I paid a really good price for what I got. Would thoroughly recommend it.
