We visited the premier Inn for our weekend away to London including the fantastic Billy Joel show. The staff were amazing, they clearly care about the service at this hotel, the rooms were clean, the breakfast was lovely and was only across the road from a tube stop shop could easily get into the city.

Comfortable enough hotel, as come to expect of Premier Inn as we who work in the live events industry stay in many, (and other much more budget hotels) but the whole place smells of used chip fat, the 3 of my team agreed and said it was the same on their floor. It's as though the kitchen is connected to the entire buildings ventilation system?!!!
A regular we met said it was since they had made 'improvements' downstairs. Our clothes actually smelt of fat, especially having eaten in the restaurant 1 night.
It's certainly a very tired building.
As for check-in, 2 auto check-in systems and 1 old laptop for the staff to use wasn't good enough. The auto check in systems NEVER work for group bookings (Trust me Premier Inn, we use enough of your hotels to know) and it took us half an hour to check in with a member of staff trying to find our booking on the 1 laptop. Then took another 20 minutes to get a wifi code an hour later as another group was trying to check in. None of the staff were happy they all had to share 1 old laptop either when they were obviously really keen to provide a good service and couldn't. Sort it out Premier Inn.
The staff are brilliant and extremely polite, but the meal we had took an eternity to be served so obviously need more staff in the kitchen... Over half an hour between courses and only 5 tables had guests. We chose to eat out every other night. No doubt we will have to stay here again, but may bring an air freshner for the corridors and rooms, but Premier Inn need to sort it out themselves and quickly.

Due to poor design the single bed I was provided with was very uncomfortable.
This is because it was pushed under the projecting headboard.
This meanth that it lost about four inches in length.
This resulted in my feet hanging over the end of the bed and discomfort.
I tried to complain using the Hotel's published arrangements but could not get any reply from the hotel or alternative numbers provided.
As a result of this, at 5:57 the following morning a Director of Premier Inn telephoned me. In doing so woke me up and forced me to get out of bed.
I considered this to be completely thoughtless and inappropriate.
It took several texts and in excess of 24 hours before the Director would apologise for phoning me so early, blaming his partner touching the number on the keypay when placing a cup of tea on the bedside.
The Duty Manager was forced to resolve the issue, which he did well.
Premier Inn should learn from this, firstly the poor design of their beds and secondly the damage caused by their senior staff failing to deal promptly with complaints against them.

This Premier Inn is fairly standard in terms of the room. It is really convenient for London and a 2 minute walk to the tube. The price is good for London. The prices of breakfast are high but there is a good cafe over the road, Rafaellos I think it was called, and a gorgeous coffee shop called Drink me Eat me. The welcome was nothing short of bizarre, being encouraged to use their electronic book in system which was slow, confusing and a bit much after travelling. Little things in the hotel such as the shower gel being attached in a dispenser to the wall, make it feel cheap. The standard of cleanliness was good and I guess you get what you pay for!
