Smart, stylish hotel. Beautiful grounds and easy access. Large car park. Refurbished rooms are lovely. Villeroy and Boch HUGE bath. Cute shortbread (homemade) rabbits waiting in your room. Hotel shuttle bus into town is available at no extra cost. Turn down service gives that feeling of luxury. I Love staying here! Breakfast is lovely but allow plenty of time as it's not the fastest service. New orangery is stunning.

We booked this place for a Saturday night's stay including dinner and breakfast. We could not fault the 4 course valentine's menu with chef's amuse bouche to start and their suggested wines to accompany each course. All staff throughout the whole stay were polite, attentive and with big smiles, this makes the service extra special for us. I suggest anyone to get a room with a view of the gardens, this place really is a great treat!

Room Tip: A room with a view of the gardens

We had our wedding function at CH last month, staying at the venue for 3 nights. Everything went to plan, Josef who managed everything was so natural and accommodating - he deserves a medal. Not only do you have an eye catching venue, where each room is designed in a unique way but you you have beautiful grounds to wander which was also perfect for wedding photos. The number of guests who complimented the venue was proof enough. But its always the people who make it, always a positive attitude, always a 'yes' when you need it. And the food was great. Try the lamb and the lemon posset for desert.

Really tis is 4 stars for the hotel and 2 stars for the restaurant and food service.

We stayed here for one night to celebrate our anniversary (we got engaged in the grounds of cannizaro house) and we were so looking forward to the trip. We were welcomed by friendly reception staff and had been upgraded to the bridal suite which was beautiful (room 320) with a terrace looking out over the park. Just a few little things would have made this really first class - fresh milk in the minibar, we had no biscuits in the room, turndown should be later (perhaps when you are dining rather than at 5.30!), a drinks list to ring down for a drink rather than my husband having to walk don, and radiator controls that don't involve us dismantling the radiator cover! However all in all it was beautiful.

The restaurant however needs some work. We decided to upgrade to the a la carte menu from the simply one included in our stay and I wish we hadn't bothered. Starters were fine but not spectacular but main courses were tiny for the price. I had lamb cutlet which max had three mouthfuls of lamb - the rest was fat and gristle, with a strange cold polenta ring around the plate (too much masterchef watching?!) and not much else going on. My husbands beef was quite gristly. This was all after such slow service (the waiter apologised for the delay but no compensation offered) and being ignored when we asked for the bill. We eventually went up ourselves! Breakfast was fine apart from very over brewed tea which I couldn't drink!

We had a drink in the orangerie later and wish we'd eaten in there the night before rather than the try hard, very empty restaurant.

Would we stay again - possibly but we wouldn't bother dining in the restaurant.

Also - echo others comments about the service charge - it is your role to serve drinks in a bar so don't add extra for it - it looks desperate, especially when you're so slow!

We recently celebrated our civil partnership at Cannizaro House and cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone looking to book a venue in south London for that special event. The hotel, staff and food are all first class. We hired a private dining room (the Blue Room) on the first floor - away from the bustle of the main restaurant and hotel foyer. It was lovely and intimate - perfect for our 16 guests. Before lunch, we were given private access to the Orangerie for drinks and canapes - a wonderful light room overlooking the grounds - a great location for photos.
The food was delicious - with quite an extensive menu to choose from when arranging the event. The service was efficient and super-friendly - nothing was too much trouble - and we were able to stay in the room for as long as we wanted. It really was the perfect venue for our special day!
