“Cannizaro House Wimbledon Common”
Reviewed 14 August 2014

We stayed at this Hotel for one night with our friends from abroad. The receptionist was so helpful and friendly and gave us a very warm welcome. Our room was beautify very clean and the décor was lovely. We had dinner in the formal room which was superb the service was first class and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The restaurant overlooked the beautiful gardens and was most peaceful and relaxing. Our Bedroom was lovely and quiet and the Bed very comfortable. Our breakfast was absolutely lovely and again the service was first class. This Hotel is beautiful and I would definitely recommend this to our family and friends.

Room Tip: Our room was on the first floor and I would recommend this. We had a lovely view of Wimbledon Common...

What a gem we have discovered in Wimbledon!

We have just returned from a wonderful family weekend at Cannizaro House to celebrate our daughter's birthday. Everything- from the grounds (which are beautiful and extensive), to the food (certainly worthy of a 3rd AA Rosette in our opinion, with outstanding steaks, lovely presentation, approachable chefs and delicious amuse bouches, not forgetting the fantastic mojitos), to the bedrooms (felt like sleeping on a cloud) and the quality of service (nothing was too much trouble, staff were always attentive but never in your face) - was a sheer delight.

The hotel itself oozes glamour and character. The location is superb, with excellent walks through Cannizaro Park and Wimbledon Common which also led us to explore Wimbledon village with its array of interesting boutiques and shops. It is definitely worth a wander.

We wholeheartedly recommend Cannizaro House and look forward to a return visit in the not too distant future.

We only stayed her for one night but it was really really nice. Lovely old school rooms, great breakfast, beautiful surroundings and friendly service. We were allowed to have our dog to stay with us which was great. Highly recommended if you want to spend time in the Wimbledon area.

Wow, this place is very nice! Amazing location with fantastic grounds. The rooms are a bit old school and English, but very nice. The winter gardens and restaurant are beautiful. If there was one thing I'd like to improve, it's the Wifi. It simply isn't good enough in many places around the hotel. But everything else is really good.

There is nothing not to like (dare I say love) about Cannizaro House. Despite the incredible accessibility and being located in London the hotel feels a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the city. I visited with my girlfriend and was blown away on all levels but not only the magnificent interior and expansive grounds of the hotel but also by the brilliant service and hospitality. The food was exquisite and I honestly could not recommend it more. We enjoyed champagne and oysters in the Orangerie which made for a wonderfully romantic experience before having the taster menu for dinner which was again beyond delicious. The only way to describe our room was magnificent, the bed was longer in width then length and the bathroom was more technologically advanced then our house is with a TV in the bath and a LED shower head. We honestly could not recommend it more and cannot wait to return.

My parents stayed at Cannizaro House in June 2014 for 2 nights as part of an overall 80th birthday present including a day at Wimbledon tennis.

From the very first connection, the service at Cannizaro was exceptional. They took on board the needs of my elderly parents and I felt assured at every step that they would be looked after. The ONLY reason this hotel does not get 5 stars is that they were charging £650 per night over Wimbledon fortnight which is daylight robbery in anyone's books!! But that aside, the overall experience that my parents enjoyed was almost worth it.

A car was arranged to collect them from Paddington. The driver was punctual, arriving 20 minutes ahead of schedule, calling ahead to advise them where he would be. He was very polite, assisted with bags and whisked them off to the hotel (for only £40 which I did think was VFM).

I then received a call from Emma at reception to tell me they had arrived and were enjoying a drink in the Orangerie whilst their bags were being taken to the room. Nice touch which was reassuring again that they were in good hands.

My parents told me that the breakfast was excellent and set them up for the day at the tennis but a real 'perk' for the £650 rack rate was that Cannizaro House had a fleet of cars assigned to their guests to ferry them back and forth throughout the day. I couldn't have asked for more especially as my mother is increasingly frail.

Thank you, Cannizaro House. Despite that hefty mark up (and I am sure everyone else does it), you deserve a true 5 star rating and we will definitely use you again.

We first stayed at this hotel over fifteen years ago and were amazed at its luxurious facilities and service back then. We decided to visit again this year and were not disappointed at all, in fact some changes have been made for the better. Unfortunately the silver service we enjoyed on our first two visits has gone but the bathrooms have been upgraded with huge baths, multiple shower facilities and underfloor heating, no more cold feet. We stayed for two nights and enjoyed two very delicious breakfasts and one brilliant evening meal, though that was more of a dining experience. The hotel has also added a very impressive conservatory at the rear where once an open terrace flourished but it still overlooks Cannizaro park with its squirrels and a flock of paraquets. The sunken garden to side of the hotel was in full bloom and is overlooked by the breakfast room. Wimbledon is only a brisk walk away and access to London via the underground a steady down hill 30 minute walk. Will we return, you bet any time we can get the chance to be spoiled rotten.
