The was to be the "luxury" moment of our trip: three days in the Waldorf, right in the middle of London. It presents very well-- lovely man in coattails and top hat to open the door, a beautiful reception area and bar, friendly and professional staff. But the room, which was on the top floor and was classed as an upgrade, was tiny, and the AC was broken, so it was close to 100 F in there. They tried to fix it, but when we came back from our walk it was even hotter, and the room they moved us to had a bed that felt like a board with a blanket over it. The wifi was intermittent. The mirror fell off the wall. The staff, who were hardly to blame, did their best to make up for this with bottles of free wine-- but we ended up fleeing to a Doubletree in Westmister the next morning.
In short: if you want to order a nice but expensive drink at a classy hotel bar in central London, this is a great choice... but sleep somewhere else!More
