Stayed for two nights and was great, lovely quiet room and breakfast of good standard. Staff were very pleasant and helpful and room was ready for early check in at 12. Would definitely stay again as easy access to underground too.

London hotels are a challenge for those conditioned with US business travel so I opted for the Marriott this trip.

Came on an overnight flight and my reservation had been given away as a "no show" though our travel desk had guaranteed the room. The desk staff was not helpful at first but after pushing them pretty hard (and showing Marriott Rewards status) they flipped and became much more helpful.

Waited for a room for a while (tough as business meetings were getting close) -- got it an hour later and it was an upgraded room -- extra/extra large by UK standards and this was good as I was going for a few days.

Location is good, nice neighborhood and close to the Tube although light on restaurants -- I ate in downtown London before heading back each night

Room Tip: get a high floor -- you might get a view (although the elevators can be a bit slow in coming)

My family stayed for nearly a week recently and because none of us was feeling particularly good, we spent quite a bit of time in the hotel. All of the staff were very helpful: 1) early check in requested in advance was no problem 2) gowns and slippers provided as requested 3) hotel provided an emergency medical team as my wife was in pain and although they were unable to help they recommended a very good Accident and Emergency unit at the Royal Free.

Family room was good, beds comfortable, bathroom a bit small. Location close to Swiss Cottage tube was good and access to city centre fast. Bit of a walk to Regents Park. I suggest a name change to Marriott Swiss Cottage.

I arrived later than my family and found that the minibar was not functional - not good for a 5 star hotel. I ordered a beer and requested that the minibar be refilled. Beer arrived but had to pay a tray charge of £3 on top of the price of a beer. Minibar could only be refilled with water at a cost! I declined! Minibar not even cold so nothing could be stored.

Indian restaurant in the hotel not working on a Tuesday but fortunately staff persuaded the chef to cook something and we ate in Chats - the hotel bar. I was told that it did not work on a Monday as well. Indian food was very good. Chats subsequently served served up some very average to poor food. Not a great selection and not good for a 5 star hotel.

Breakfast very expensive (£19.50 for a full English and £15.50 for a continental) and not a good selection especially of bread. Only filtered coffee offered and extra for cappucino.

WiFi at £5 an hour or £15 a day a disgrace especially if charged to a Marriott Reward Card holder. Most hotels now are moving to free WiFi especially for card holders.

Could not print out boarding passes in the business centre so had to send by email to concierge.

Door to room was left open after cleaning one day. Fortunately nothing was stolen and whilst the reception was very apologetic, most hotels check after the cleaners have done their job. Room was not hoovered and dusted every day!

Swimming pool was open to non-residents and so a section was closed off for swimming lessons.

Overall, I would not recommend this hotel until management have improved standards to the level one expects of a 5 star Marriott.

Room Tip: Ask for quite room not adjacent to renovations.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for reviewing your stay at the London Marriott Hotel Regents Park. We are delighted to read such wonderful comments regarding our staff and the service they delivered during your stay; thank you also for your kind comments regarding our rooms and location. We are sorry, however, to read that other areas of your stay with us did not match your expectations of a 5* hotel, but as a 4* hotel, our services and facilities are more limited than those of a 5*hotel.

Following our guests’ feedback including your own, all our in-room minibars will be converted into functional fridges as of next week, and an in-room drinks & snacks menu will be made available from which guests can order snacks, soft drinks and alcoholic drinks without a tray charge.

Our Indian restaurant Zaike NW3 is open Wednesday to Saturday, with a reduced Zaike NW3 menu available alongside the bar menu in our Chats bar during the rest of the week. We are very glad that you enjoyed your Zaike NW3 meal, thank you for your positive comment. Thank you also for your feedback regarding our Chats bar menu and breakfast selection which we will pass on to our kitchen team.

Regarding your comments on the internet charges, internet is indeed chargeable in the rooms as you mention, but we do offer complimentary internet access to Gold and Platinum members of the Marriott Rewards loyalty scheme and a 50% discount for Silver members. Wi-Fi is also available complimentary for all guests and hotel visitors in the restaurant, bar and lobby.

We are truly sorry that the door to your room was not shut properly following the servicing of your room. We sincerely apologise for this one-off lapse which has been dealt with thought the appropriate disciplinary procedures after you had reported this issue to our reception team during your stay. Please rest assured that we take security very seriously at the hotel: we have a security officer on duty 24/7 and the entire hotel is monitored from the car park up to the 7th floor on an hourly basis by trained associates 7 days a week in order to minimise any security risks to our guests and associates.

Thank you once again for your feedback. We hope that you find these responses to your comments sufficient and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to our hotel in the future.

Easy to find with nearest tube Swiss Cottage only 5 mins away (Jubilee line). Very friendly staff and warmly welcomed with popcorn! Standard room furniture but bed was very comfortable. Spacious steam room and sauna, and nice size pool. Ideally located if visiting London Zoo or Madame Tussards but not sure why hotel is called Regents Park as it's no where near it. Would definitely stay here again.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for your lovely review and positive comments regarding the London Marriott Hotel Regents Park. We are glad you enjoyed the popcorn machine in the lobby and it is fantastic to read that you would stay with us again!

Although the closest underground station is Swiss Cottage, as you mention, the hotel is named after Regent's Park as it is located just 2/3 of a mile north of the park.

Thank you again for your comments and we look forward to welcoming you back soon.

I had stayed at this hotel a few years ago and had a real good experience with them. This time around I was back in town on business and it was a mixed bag when it came to the hotel.

Pros

I arrived quite early and they were able to accommodate an early checkin. They were very friendly and quite happy to get me settled in for the day. The staff overall was quite friendly and nice.

Cons

My biggest complaint was the housekeeping service. I travel a lot for business and I work all day. When my day is finished, I want to go back to my room and relax. Of the 7 days I stayed there, I came back to the hotel AFTER 5pm and the housecleaning service was only STARTING to do my room. I actually had to go down into the lobby and sit and wait 15 minutes until my room was ready. For me, this is UNACCEPTABLE. There is no reason why rooms shouldn't be cleaned by 5pm. Especially given the price of the hotel. Get your staff to do their job when they should.

The breakfast buffet was awful. Worst money I ever spent on food.

One of the phones in my room was broken.

Lastly, they were VERY obviously price gouging foreign customers. The exchange rate at the front desk for Canadian dollars was $1.91 Canadian to 1 GBP. This was 20 cents HIGHER than anywhere else in the city. It seemed very clear to me that they were purposely hiking up the exchange rate to make an extra dime. BE WEARY OF IT!

It's a fine place to lay your head down and get a snooze but don't expect any kind of decent service.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for reviewing your recent stay at the London Marriott Hotel Regents Park and for choosing to book with us again. We are sorry to hear that your latest stay did not live up to your first experience with us, but glad that you found our staff friendly and that we were able to offer you an early check-in; thank you for your kind comments.

With regard to the housekeeping service, our rooms are serviced between the hours of 08:00 and 18:00, as explained on the card found on the desk in each room, and we offer our guests the option to request their room to be serviced at a more specific and convenient time. We have passed on your feedback to our new Executive Housekeeper who is already working on new plans to get the rooms serviced in a shorter time frame on weekends, to enhance our guests' experience.

We apologise that the telephone in your room was not working; we have passed this comment on to our maintenance team to deal with this issue. We are also sorry to read that you did not enjoy the breakfast; we usually receive very good feedback regarding our breakfast offerings, so we were disappointed to read these comments. We would be very grateful if you could tell us a little more about your breakfast experience by responding to our private message.

Thank you for your review once more, and we hope that your initial good experience with us will entice you back to the hotel, giving us the opportunity to showcase our usual high standards of hospitality which you experienced during your first stay with us.

The hotel is fine - the outside of the hotel is being renovated and the inside is ok. It's not impressive or amazing, but simply ok and what you expect from a city hotel, even though the location is not the best in London. The tube does compensate for that and you are easily across the city.
The restaurant actually had really good service and food and the breakfast was also ok (not exceptional in any way).
Swimming pool facilities are a bit tired I would say.
