“Excellent location and attentive staff”
Reviewed 1 April 2014

Nicely decorated hotel only 3-4 min. walking distance to Oxford Street. It is very easy to reach the hotel by public transportation both from/to Heathrow and Gatwick airports. It was the first time for me but we could easily found our way to the hotel from Heathrow Airport.Just take the tube from the airport and need to change at Green Park for Bond Street Tube Station. From the station,it is only 3-4 min. on foot. The staff is very Professional and ready to assist you in all issues. From the doormen to bar staff ,everything was helpfull. Our room was a supeior/deluxe room. The bed was very very comfortable. But the room was annoying small. One have to sit on the bed while other is walking in the room. But I got a great deal as the half price of the regular so it did not bother us too much. The bathroom was not clean enough.
It was our anniversary and we mentioned about it as a special request on online booking. On the 2nd day, they prepared an unforgettable suprise for us.Thank you very much for red roses. The attentive staff made me rate this hotel as Excellent.

Room Tip: The rooms are tiny. The double rooms just like for single use.

the hotel is well situated, with plenty of restaurants and shopping only a couple of minutes walk away. The bar gets very busy so go early if you want to find a seat. The room was fine but never been a fan of a shower/ bath combination

Excellent hotel in prime location to Oxford Street. Staff very polite and nothing too much trouble. Very reasonable rate for a Saturday night stay in London. Clean, nicely decorated and furnished. Double room on the smallish side but excellent facilities. Did not have a meal or breakfast there so cannot comment on food. Plenty of nice places to eat nearby especially for sitting outside. Would stay again and recommend.

The hotel is in a great location, just off Wigmore St and very close to Oxford St. Check in was efficient and friendly. Someone had set the airconditioning in our room to 32 and it was like an oven! I turned it right down and then went in search of the kettle to make a cup of tea. There was a Nespresso machine, but no tea making facilities. I called reception as couldn't get through to housekeeping. The receptionist said they don't provide tea, only coffee. I asked to speak to the manager and explained that we didn't drink coffee and could we have some tea. This could be arranged but only if we paid the room service fee. After pointing out that the room was boiling hot on arrival and it would cost them a few pence to put a tea bag in some boiling water, she reluctancly agreed to send us a pot of tea! I've never stayed in an English hotel where you can't make a cup of tea in your room. There were also no biscuits.

The room was lovely and clean and very quiet for a central London hotel. Great bathroom - although there was a design fault on the shower - you couldn't change the temperature without getting wet so it it was set high, you would get scalded. However, there was a shower over the bath too.

The next morning at breakfast (lovely continental selection - all good) I was served by a very polite waiter. Whilst I was sitting having breakfast, the boss of the breakfast service came over and admonished the lovely waiter in front of me for not doing something or other - which I thought was very unprofessional. I felt really sorry for the waiter and made a point of telling the boss what good service I'd had from the told off waiter.

This could be a great hotel. It's just that the little things that it didn't get right really annoyed us. I would not go back to a hotel where you can't get a cup of tea - it's such a basic requirement but so important! Or where they tell their staff off in front of you.

Dear ShepherdSwanage,

Thank you for choosing the Mandeville Hotel for your stay in London, we are delighted to read that our friendly Reception team has extended you a warm welcome and that our lovely Housekeeping team provided you with a superb service.

In regards to the Tea Making Facilities, we do currently not offer Tea Making facilities in the rooms itself, instead we do have Nespresso Machines which come with an assortment of complimentary capsules which are replenished daily.
Apart from that we do offer an assortment of fresh tea’s via our dedicated Room Service department.

We would also like to thank you for pointing out the design fault in the shower, your comments have been passed onto our interior designer who will follow upon it.

Regarding your observation at Breakfast, please be assured that this is not the norm at the Mandeville Hotel, we treat all of our team members with the utmost professionalism.

We would like to have the opportunity to welcome you back and enjoy the fabulous Mandeville Hotel.

Please do not hesitate to contact me directly if I can be of further assistance.

Our thanks again for your feedback and please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.

I have been fortunate to stay here plenty of times with my job & great location, rooms and very efficient reception team & concierge - The price is more than acceptable for the location and standards are good throughout - Please heed feedback from other customers as a couple of touches would really benefit - The TV is embarrassingly small for a hotel of your stature & you have to stick a bottle of water in the room - These are the norm for many of your competitors!

Dear wardmeister,

Greetings from the Mandeville Hotel.
Thank you very much for choosing the Mandeville Hotel for your London experience.
We were delighted to read your great comments about our dedicated team.

Whilst we are pleased to read that you enjoyed the standards of our rooms, our location and thought our service was great, we are disappointed to read that you felt the TV was not up to date and promise that they are being upgraded to HD Smart TV's over the coming months.

We certainly hope this will not deter you from returning to the Mandeville and I would be very happy to personally look after your next reservation, just reach out to me on maurices@mandeville.co.uk.

Enjoyed a deluxe room for four nights. Yes, smallish size by western standards- but well laid out and nicely adorned. Very comfortable beds, linens, etc. Hotel staff were always friendly and helpful. Excellent location!
