What sunlight in London you may ask, but, believe me, around 4 a.m. the rooms stop being dark because there's only a relatively think curtain at the Travelodge Covent Garden. And if you're a chronic insomniac like me, well, that can be very annoying. Such a pity only Ibis seems to have shutters outside the windows. If you've heard of any other hotel chain catering for the needs of such difficult customers please let me know :) But, alas, the Ibis hotels in London were too expensive, and NOT in the city center. Whereas Travelodge Covent Garden? Good location, next to the British Museum and the theater district, right next to several tube Stations (we usually preferred Holborn), close to Pret a manger, Sainsbury's, Boots, kettle in the room, and, come on, they did have liquid soap. Breakfast a great value if you have kids, as they eat for free (even if, in my kids' case, they eat more than adults).
At first my husband was complaining about the twin bed being short, but then he said it was OK. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were refurbished. That's a big plus for a London hotel. No mould thank God. Very quiet rooms. The staff was very helpful. No luxury, and come on, do refurbish it from the outside too, but very convenient. EXCELLENT value for Money: 90 euro per night for a twin room. Good job Travelodge. Now do consider putting shutters.
