“Another good standard”

Having not stayed in a Travelodge until a few months ago, when I visited Tamworth, this time I decided to try out a London hotel.
The position in Covent Garden is very convenient, and about the only complaint I could give is that you have to climb a dozen or so steps to get from street level to the hotel foyer.
Check in can be via a bank of automatic self service units (which I hate!) or go to the desk and have a very straight forward book in by a really helpful reception team.
The reception area overlooks a very pleasant café area and bar, where prices were very reasonable and a nice plate of food cost less than £10.
The room was clean and very practical, with no noise problems at all. As I was in London for a Cricket Test Match, my booking was for 5 days. Everything about my stay was excellent and I have no doubts about recommending this Travelodge to other visitors to London

Room Tip: Didn't seem to matter frankly, please note only get half an hour of free WIFI per day

We arrived for early checkin & were given keys. The first room had not been cleaned. Back to reception! Richard very apologetic & sent someone to check another room. Discussion followed & we were given room 801. This was fine & had a shower as requested & also a great view. This hotel has a good location for a London visit. Don't expect luxury but comfortable & clean

My wife and I stayed at the Travelodge Covent Garden for 4 nights; 20 July to 23 July incl. It is in a very convenient location and the staff were friendly and helpful. I cannot comment on the food or cost of food as we did not eat at the hotel.
The point I make is that this is not a "cheap city hotel". The first night (Sunday) was 69 UK pounds. At that rate the hotel was of value. The next 3 nights cost 148 UK pounds per night. At that rate it was of poor value. The rooms are small and stuffy; there is no air conditioning; there is no enclosed cupboard space with very limited open hanging; no fridge; and no telephone in the room. I found it incredulous that there were no telephones in the rooms. For health and safety reasons alone one would expect some means of communication with reception other than taking a lift down 7 floors and walking 50 metres.
If you can get a double room for 69 UK pounds per night then OK. Otherwise you can do better with other hotels in the area.

Room Tip: Higher rooms on the west side are quieter

Yes I was worried that this hotel might be in the wrong place or the bed and room might be too small. I WAS WRONG! The hotel has obviously been recently refurbished as the room was spotless and smart. The bed was a kingsize with firm but comfortable mattress and pillows, fresh sheets and towels. The shower worked spectacularly well - whoohoo :-) We were on the top floor and can't understand why Travel Lodge don't make more of the amazing views. Every time we left and returned we would spend a couple of minutes looking out of the windows. Staff were always pleasant and helpful and the breakfast adequate . Should also point out that the hotel is in a perfect location for exploring the area. All in all Great value for money and a pleasant surprise.

Room Tip: We asked for a higher floor and were lucky to get the top floor, no noise and an amazing view.

The covent garden travelodge has a great location with very friendly and helpful staff. The only problem is the strict check in time and the additional cost for early check in. This just causes extra pressure for the reception staff

Stayed here for one night while we visited the west end for a show. Perfect location, value for money for the family. Room very comfortable , breakfast fine though staff under pressure when very busy. Will stay again when next book the theatre.

The Travelodge in Covent Garden is the perfect choice for someone who travels on a budget, wants to stay close to the city and doesn't need a bunch of luxurious amenities. For a very good price we had breakfast and dinner included with our stay. The food was actually really good (try the beef lasagna or the four cheese pizza, among other amazing meals). And a big thank you to the hotel staff for letting us have our dinner after dinner hours, after coming late one evening because of a problem with the tube line. Location wise, it's very close to the Holborn tube station (5 minutes away), and there is a bus stop even closer. A lot of the city's main attractions, like Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square, the British Museum, the Covent Garden Market, Picadilly Circus and many more are within walking distance (20 minutes at most). After a 30-40 minute walk you're face to face with Big Ben! Our room was pretty clean, and it had a nice TV.
