Stayed here on Tuesday 4th March with my partner on a business trip as we were attending an event that evening at London Film Museum.
The hotel facilities for the price in central London are good. If you like mattresses as soft as a water bed then you'll love it - we didn't but that would be the only complaint about the facilities. Don't bother paying good money for the cooked breakfast though - it's awful: over cooked, cheap ingredients and tepid, I stayed in a Premier Inn the following night and paid cheaper for a far superior breakfast.
My real issue is with the homophobic staff and the evident lack of training for staff coming from very different parts of the world. I don't mind if people have homophobic attitudes, particularly if coming from countries less open, tolerant and liberal than the UK. However Days Inn - their attitude has no place behind the reception desk and it's your responsibility to make sure they know that. In a cosmopolitan metropolitan western city like London then the predominant cultural attitude is one of respect for people of all backgrounds.
The room was booked through Otel. It was for for myself and my partner and for a female friend who was booked into a solo use double room. Somewhere down the line someone had decided that two men couldn't possibly share a room and changed the booking so my partner and female friend were booked into a room together. When it came to checking in the reception staff also looked perplexed and disapproving that the bookings had to be changed to accommodate two men. For this to happen once would be bad enough but it happened twice, with two different members of staff, My partner and I had to check in separately and we both experienced the mix up (my partner was actually sent to the wrong room) mixed in with a homophobic disdain. We were both made to feel as have the mix up was our fault and both asked if we were sure that the two of us were going to share one room. When this was confirmed we were both again met with looks and sucked teeth that left us in no doubt what those members of staff thought about the arrangement. I don't need the aggro to challenge outdated homophobic attitudes in a place I don't expect it. That's your job Days Inn - sort it because it will rightly loose you money.
By the way, if you link to your review page had actually worked then this review would have
gone there but it didn't so it's going here instead.
