“Really average, disappointing.”
Reviewed 11 September 2013

Firstly we turned up 2 hours after checkin time, and they couldn't find our reservation which meant the room wasn't ready. The location was good, close to the bus and tube and a safe neighborhood. The lobby was very old fashioned. Staff were okay, straightforward answers for everything. Included breakfast was pretty basic, cereal, ham, cheese, bread, coffee. Any Internet has to be paid for which, considering the prices of the rooms if you don't have a good deal is pretty rich. We noticed that there was a very strong smell of cigarettes through the hall, I guess from the smoking rooms (maybe I'm a little young but the inclusion of smoking rooms seems so old fashioned to me...not worth it for the smell it leaves throughout the whole ground floor!) So the room was a strange shape, but it wasn't bad. Most of the room was broken in some way, taps dripped, towel hanger wasn't screwed on, shower fittings broken, mould on the bathroom ceiling, carpet stained...the bed was clean though. But why do hotels insist on pushing 2 beds together the supplying a bedcover which is NOT BIG ENOUGH FOR 2 PEOPLE??! All in all I wouldn't recommend this hotel at all. It did the job ( being somewhere to store the luggage and somewhere to sleep) but that was definitely all.

Spent the weekend at this hotel whilst attending the Proms in the Park event in Hyde Park. The hotel couldn't be better located in that respect, an enjoyable 15 minute walk to the venue, slightly more navigating back through the darkness slightly worse for wear!

The front of house staff were excellent, paying in cash we had to pay a £20 deposit which I was assured by the personable Laszlo would be held in an envelope and returned on check out assuming we hadn't emptied the minibar! Checking out in the morning he already had envelope in hand and a welcoming smile..nice guy.

Our room on the 7th floor, was a bit of a chore getting to, the lift's tiny and only goes to the 6th. The room itself was small but clean and perfectly adequate for our needs. The ensuite consisted of a large shower but no bath which again wasn't an issue for us.

We didn't eat but the Afternoon Tea advertised at £12.99 certainly looked tempting as did the other items on the menu.

We hope to do Proms in the Park again next year and would have no hesitation in returning to the Commodore.

Room Tip: Probably best to ask for a room on a floor serviced by a lift.

Found this hotel on booking.com for overnight stay for Proms in the Park in Hyde Park, and it could n't have worked out better. Ideally situated for Hyde Park and Oxford Circus. The hotel room was clean, although it would have been a challenge if the lift was out of order, as we were on the 7th floor. We decided to go down to the restaurant by the stairs in the morning, and the staircase winds round and round so I was a bit dizzy by the time we got there, but the breakfast was good and plentiful. Room was very good value for such a well situated hotel with continental breakfast included in the price. I will certainly use it again in the future especially as it is very close to the tube stations.

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor room, if possible. The staircase is very small and winds round and round, an...

The Commodore Hotel is located a few steps from Hyde Park on a very quiet street and yet close to an underground station and a few minutes from Queensway with many restaurants. The rooms are small but well furnished and with modern bathrooms. The breakfast is excellent with a very large choice. Considering how expensive London hotels can be, this hotel is very reasonably priced.

We stayed for 2 night at commodore hotel and it was fantastic. We met a very friendly and helpful hungarian receptionist and he recommended to us a lots of things what we can do in London.
Our room was really good, tidy and clean.
There was a huge mirror on the wall in front of the bed. There was a balcony with a chairs and a little table where we can sit out both night. (Room 210)
We had a great continental breakfast in the hotel restaurant , nice breakfast, very kind service.
I recommend it. We will come back at the next trip in London.

I would have liked to have given this hotel a better rating because it is a pretty hotel with a very helpful staff. However, our basement (!) room had stained carpet, which was threadbare in places and a clogged shower shower drain. The mini-bar menu listed items which weren't there. The hotel is very close to lovely Hyde Park, but there is very little else around.

Room Tip: Avoid Basement rooms, they are gloomy!

I stayed at the Commodore Hotel for eight nights from the 28th July. I had booked a single room but was upgraded to a double (room 608). This room was very clean, had a large bathroom and the bed was very comfortable (which was great after my long days sightseeing).

The best part of this hotel is the staff. Whenever I entered or exited they were always friendly and helpful. Particular mention to the breakfast team. Not only was the continental breakfast delicious, the staff were lovely- a great way to start a morning!

The hotel is also in a brilliant location. A quiet street, in leafy area near Kensington Gardens, only a short walk to tube and restaurants.

My stay at The Commodore Hotel really made the first week of my holiday memorable and I would definitely recommend it and stay there again in the future.
