The Royal Horseguards Hotel is 5-Star and is very close to Charing Cross Station on the Strand. The location is wonderful for sightseeing and is in walking distance to most of the West End theatres. Our room was large and ample, but the hotel itself needs assistance. Halls are very narrow and don't have a "fresh" smell. During our stay one of the three lifts was out of order which made our wait for the elevator to be very long (once over 8 minutes!!). The phone charges are ridiculous - local calls for over a pound each and mobile UK phones upwards of 6 pounds ($10) per call!! But if you want good location, and can afford the time to wait for the lift, and don't make phonecalls, it's a good place to stay.

Room Tip: An executive room gives you an additional 6 square meters, which makes the room very livable, even f...

Dear William P,

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent visit to the hotel. We are most certainly in a desirable location, close to London’s main attractions, shops, theatres and many more. What a joy to be able to walk to this with ease whilst enjoying the summer sun. Although you were pleased with the location I am sorry to read of your dissatisfaction and would like to assure we take all feedback in to great consideration. We did unfortunately experience a few problems with our lifts recently and would like to apologise for the inconvenience, this is by no means a usual occurrence. We are currently reviewing phone charges and would like to thank you for your comments. Please also note that I have shared your feedback with our Housekeeping Team regarding our hallways. I hope we will be able to welcome you back to the hotel the next time you are in London to showcase our true potential, please do not hesitate to contact the hotel if you have any queries, we would be more than happy to assist.

Kind Regards
Riddian Davies, General Manager

I made the reservation on the websiteTripadvisor/Booking. Was looking for a hotel to celebrate 30 years of my wedding anniversary. Looking for a romantic room and booked the Executive King Room overlooking the River Thames. I booked a 4 day weekend. When I arrived at the hotel at 15:00 was attended by a desk clerk named Camillo and said that this was only a spare bedroom and this room had the shower, only a bathtub to soak. The hotel was overbooked and would only be released in a room with shower Saturday afternoon. (This was Thursday). In Brazil we have the habit of taking a shower every day and it is impossible to a Brazilian for one day without a shower. We insist with attendant and Camillo was arrogant and showed no willingness to serve its clients with minimal care. I do not know if because we made the booking via tripadvisor/Booking or being orign Latin but felt a very biased treatment of the front desk attendant called Camillo. Then we went to Executive King Room with View 838 number, I would ask the company Tripadvisor and Booking visiting this room 838. The bathroom has 4 square meters and the room not more than 16 square meters. Remember that I had booked and paid in advance an Executive King Room with View and paid more dearly for it. In my opinion this hotel in the first place should train their employees much better and it would be much, much more ethic in the information that passes through your website. In my honest and rational opinion on this hotel isn"t honest with your host / client. Never come back in this hotel ..... I'll try to attach photos of the room and the bathroom (they say 5 stars but in my opinion no more than 2 stars)

Room Tip: Procurem um outro hotel. Este hotel não eh Etico

Lovely hotel in a great location only a couple of minutes walk to Trafalgar Square, and on a quiet street near to some pretty parks. Staff were friendly and welcoming upon arrival. We did have a slight issue with the hotel being advertised as wheelchair accessible, which it is, once you ask the concierge for a ramp to get to the lifts, they were always quick to get the portable ramp but it is very steep. The lifts are very small but the automatic doors through the corridors were very handy.
The room itself was lovely, a good size, a little bit dark but it had a tv in the roll-in-shower!
We ate in the hotels restaurant which was superb, and the cocktails in the lounge were also very good. The hotel is quite dark like many London hotels, and a clever use of mirrors makes it feel more open and larger than it is, but overall we had a great stay.

Dear nicky b,

The team and I are truly grateful for your comments and we will be reviewing our wheelchair accessibility to ensure guests are as comfortable as possible when staying with us. Please also be assured I have noted your observations regarding the lighting in the hotel. The TV in the bathroom is a popular amenity; we wouldn’t want our guests to miss out on any breaking news! The restaurant has a very talented team, whom I am very proud of and pleased you enjoyed your dining experience. Thank you for your feedback, it is truly valuable to the hotel. I hope we are able to welcome you back to the hotel very soon!

Kind Regards

Such a lovely hotel. Mind you, its getting very busy one the last year and so the foyer is a bit hectic at times.

The rooms are well appointed although you do need to decide the size you want. Those facing the inside, and so no view, seems to be larger than those with a view. I've stayed a number of times there and this time had a queen room with a view over the river. While certainly quite small, the view over the part and river, and the ability to open the window made it worthwhile. As I don't spend lots of time in the room itself, that was all good.

Enjoyed the buffet breakfast which is lovely. Varied enough without being over the top. Good thing is that you can generally always get a table when you want.

Finally, great location just down from Trafalgar Sq, the Stand, Leicester Sq and close the the tube. If you don't mind paying the price, its a great hotel

Room Tip: Take an inner room if you want more space

Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay at the hotel and also for your loyalty. We very much enjoy welcoming back familiar faces, especially friends from the other side of the world!

We have a number of different rooms available and we aim to ensure all guests are pleased with their accommodation. The view of the River Thames is second to none, especially at night when the London Eye is lit up for London to see! Being so close to transport links and tourist attractions is great for our guests and we are surrounded by an impressive heritage. Attending a summer drinks event at The Trafalgar Hilton Hotel we decided to stay elsewhere due to the reviews on TripAdvisor. Room 656 was large and comfortable. The TV in the shower was a help as there was a World Cup game on.
We had a pleasant nightcap at the bar and a splendid breakfast the following morning.
The concierge kindly looked after our luggage while we shopped and went to a matinee performance of Once.
We hope to stay again.
