The service was absolutely fantastic and it's worth highlighting the excellent care & attention we received from Dena Parker, Guest Relations Manager. We were given a truly lovely room which overlooked the gardens and Thames river, so lovely in fact that we almost preferred to spend the weekend in the room rather than going out to meet our daughter! We loved the central location of the hotel- you could walk every where on the West End. We hardly used the tube on our stay. That's wonderful because so much time is wasted on transport if you live outside the city centre.
We checked in on a Friday and was given a standard room on the 5th floor. Room was on the small side, but comfy and no view at all. This however was not the problem. The issue we encountered was after coming home late at night following a West End show we could hear a party going on in a part of the building which apparently does not belong to the hotel.
The noise was so loud it was impossible to sleep. We complained to the night manager, Michael, and was given free minibar and a new room the next day. This however did not help us the night in question. Apparently the hotel was full and Michael said he could not move us. Actually, I beleive him on that. He seemed like a nice guy.
The next day we were given room no 607- an executive room. Very much better than the one on the 5th floor. No view, but the room was wonderful.
In a 5 star hotel such as this I do expect a quiet nights sleep without being bothered by music from party venues. That's my main complaint about the place. We'd go back, but only if given a room on the 6th floor or above!
The breakfast is wonderful, newspapers are complimentary and the staff is very polite.
I recommend it, just make sure you are on the right floors!

I travelled with my mother for her 80th birthday - we sadly only stayed one night however we had a lovely stay. The room was upgraded (unsure if this was kindness or because they couldn't find our booking!!) to a river view and this was wonderful. There were all sorts of interesting things in the room - the light system, dressing table to name but a few, however the weather was cold and we would have liked a little more warmth! We were told that it was a "green" hotel so maximum was 26 degrees which sounds lovely but the draught from the windows (the problem with a river view). This was not helped by the non functioning underfloor heater and towel rail in the bathroom - didn't encourage showering!! It was reported however we were told it was a fault which couldn't be fixed - we were offered a room change - but at 11pm it didn't seem worth it.
Apologies were profuse - but that didn't make the room warmer! Hey ho - it still was a lovely hotel, excellent service and we would definitely go again....superbly placed for the attractions too. The breakfast was good although not really sure if it was value for money - wouldn't have wanted to walk the streets for an alternative though. We used the hotel lounge for a lunch and coffee etc which was very nice and not bad value either - great service. We didn't use the hotel restaurant for the evening as we went out - as you do!!

Spent four days here. River view rooms are river view in the winter but not really in the summer due to the number of trees. Expensive, but you get what you pay for in my opinion. There were problems upon our arrival, but they were thoughtfully and professionally dealt with. Would I stay again? In a heartbeat.

We had a lovely view of the London Eye from our room. Good sized room, underfloor heating in the bath room, ipod connection, TV over bath, all the amenities you can think of... a superb hotel in London. Will definitely stay again.
