“Huge hotel, great facilities, need of refurbishing”
Reviewed 19 November 2013

As always the Hilton hotel was probably fantastic when is was built. They had everything you would need of facilities within the building, the staff was professional and the common areas where great. They should however be careful of showing off a nice reception area when the hallways and rooms in the upper levels look like they have not been refurbished since the 60`s.

The lobby area is nice and overall its a nice hotel but the rooms are super small! My husband and I were in a queen bed (we haven't slept in a queen in 10 years!). Room was so tiny we could barely move around. The mattress was WAY firm (he loved it - I hated it). We never were able to control the thermostat in the room - it was constantly HOT. I'm sure they were aware of it because we were on the 19th floor & discovered that one of the windows in our room could be opened! Needless to say we kept it open so we didn't suffocate! Our stay included breakfast which was fine - nothing spectacular but adequate. Although we were near an Underground stop - we soon found out that its closed until sometime next year! Only had one concierge who was friendly (hey Mohammad!) the others acted like they could care less. The location is nice in relation to the sights in the area.

Room Tip: We were on the 19th floor and had a nice view facing Edgware. No problems with noise and room was p...

Went here for a conference with wife. Queues on arrival were horrible. Had wife wait in nice bar area with free wifi. Went to our room & could here people next door! Not good for a romantic get away. Complained to staff & they gave us a non adjoining room which worked fine. They charge for wifi outside the one common area. It should be free everywhere for what they charge per room. This location is not the best unless you are comfortable in a middle Eastern culture. There is a tube stop close by. Our conference room was nice for our group & lunch was good. If we have to choose we will go elsewhere next time.

Room Tip: Not an adjoining room.

I stayed at the Metropole Paddington Hilton Sunday November 17 to Tuesday November 19. What a rip off this turned out to be! They are charging £ 59 [!!] for two days use of WiFi. For the parking in their Garage for the 2 nights they charged £ 70, when I ordered Room Service they had the audacity to add £ 5 for what they called a 'tray charge'. This is in addition to their overpriced room service menu. The service is generally poor, and does not befit a 5 star Hotel [I had to carry my luggage up to the 13th floor myself, no help was offered upon check in]. I would certainly not stay there again, and I am a Hilton Honours Member [since 20 years]

Room Tip: Go somewhere else!

Booked a secret hotel on through Last Minute for a shopping trip to London and got the Hilton Metropole Edgware road

On the special request we asked for a quiet room but no such luck we ended up on the 6th floor right by the lifts which were quite noise and the fridge in the room sounded motor bike.

The room was ok but a bit dated and could have done with a revamp like the lobby has had, the hotel is located right over the road from the Tube which was handy especially after a full day in London.

The hotel it’s self was extremely busy which you noticed most at breakfast but the staff seemed to be nice and friendly even when dealing with some unpleasant customers

The best part of the hotel is the bar on the 23rd floor nice and relaxing with great views over the city it was also quieter that we thought it would be.

Stayed on Fri 15th Nov 2013.
Lady at check in was delightful but that is where any positivity ended. The room I was allocated was utterly appaling: it was tiny, overlooked Euston Road and had no sound proofing as far as I could tell as all I could hear were police sirens through the night; the bathroom looked like something from a Victorian Blackpool guest house and the wardrobe was some pieces of chipboard painted white and stuck on the wall by the door of the room. The whole place resembled a student flat. I tried to change my room but got nowhere.
The executive lounge was very small, not enough seating by miles for the number of guests and the staff couldn't care less: I heard the man at the door say to a customer "There aren't any seats, it's just tough, it's first come first served." No attempt at all by the exec lounge staff to ask lone customers seated at tables for 4 to move, just downright unhelpful attitude.
I have had a Diamond Card with Hilton for several years but that didn't count for anything. It was one of the worst experiences I have had and I will never, ever stay at this hotel again.

Due to the fact we were looking after a very elderly gent( and one other )it did take a lot of juggling to get rooms which were suitable for our needs and moved a number of times, with compromises on our part. the service was good over all but breakfast was also effected by are many room changes, not the best start to our break.
