“Some nice staff, shame about the rest”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 April 2014

I chose this hotel because I needed somewhere cheap and close to Kings Cross. And that's what I got. Decent clean no-frills room, with a comfortable bed and really nice bedding, the world's most reluctant TV (fixed temporarily by one of the nice staff) and a non-adjustable 60's B&B style over-the-bath shower which I couldn't use because the grab bars are in the wrong place and they wouldn't supply a rubber safety mat. When I asked why not; "we just don't".
Apparently the all-you-can-eat breakfast is pretty good (paid separately) and it is near KX; a £5 taxi ride or a smart 10-15 minute walk. There's a bus stop nearby for buses south of the river and one opposite for going north; but I might well pay more for somewhere where I could at least get clean!

Room Tip: ask for a room away from Farrigdon Road (or King's Cross Road, I think it still is at that poin...

Travelodge rooms don't vary much, but are occasionally repainted etc. The decor in this lodge is rather tired and probably could do with a refurb. However, it was fine - rooms are clean (apart from a stray onion ring I noted had rolled far under one of the beds) and the bed was comfy, shower good, breakfast fine

I don't expect a fantastic experience with Travelodge but I do expect somewhere comfy, clean, consistent and efficient service. Travelodge usually delivers on these and so I'm satisfied

we had the smallest room despite advising the hotel we had an infant in a carry cot and it was uncomfortable and pokey - I would neither return here nor recommend to anyone then inconsiderate people blocked our car in so it took 35 mins to get the car out of the space,

when arriving very early in the morning was told I would have to carry my suitcase around with me all day as there was no left luggage service. This was completely unacceptable so asked to speak to a manager who told me I could leave it at the Kings cross Travelodge as they have left luggage facilities there for a 10 pound charge! I accepted this as it was impossible to carry around a suitcase for 6 hours until check in opened. When we arrived back at night we were given someone elses room!!! when I complained that someone elses belongings were in our room we were quickly moved. Everything went smooth after that. Nice clean bedding and a very comfortable bed. Would recommend.

After reading reviews we were a little concerned about this travelodge. However, our room was fine, yes it could have done with a coat of varnish on the furniture and the bathroom needed a little tlc but over all it was OK. The room was clean and quiet. The entrance left a bit to be desired but the staff were very friendly and helpful. We did not use the restaurant but lots of people did. We would stay there again.

Room Tip: As for a room on the top floor at the back.

I was shocked to find out that when I booked in January that there was a lot of bad reviews on the dirty and stained carpet. It is now replaced with brand new carpet. My room was clean, spacious and fit the price I paid.

All the receptionists on duty over the 28/3/14 - 20/3/14 were welcoming, helpful, courteous as expected.

Got a bargain of a room so wasn't expecting anything spectactular. First impressions looks old from the road. Receptionist friendly and helpful, checked in 2:30 instead of 3 which was a bonus. Good location about 10 mins from Kings Cross. First impressions of room, it was clean and tidy. Was at the back of the building so was overlooking a lot of buildings but it was quiet. Very comfortable bed and amazing fluffy pillows (only needed 1 instead of 2)
Dodgy 99p stores universal TV remote which I got working in the end. Tiles and sink had some cracks in them and radiator seemed a bit rusty. Shower only seemed to have one heat setting it was hot but bearable. Seems as though they are slowly refurbishing the place as it did smell of paint but opened a window for a while and the smell soon disappeared.
Amazing nights sleep UNTIL there was a loud noise outside my room at approx. 9am. They were laying plastic sheeting over the carpet as they were painting in the corridors, which did ruin my lay in. Tea & Coffee provided, kettle and cups looked clean. Hopefully they are doing a complete refurb as the wooden cupboards and drawers look quite dated.
Overall for the price I payed I would happily stay again
