Impressed with this hotel - seems to be a good quality but somewhat "no frills' business hotel. Little touches like good coffee in the lobby were nice, room was good - quite a decent size for London - and staff pleasant.

Obviously in the City of London so quite area for weekends (quite a walk to eat out on a Sunday night for example) but you'll be staying here probably because it's in the City! Not luxury, but decent quality.

Room price varies quite a bit it seems - Sunday night stay was extremely reasonable, but a good 100 GBP more for the following Thursday (both in June).

First of all : I'm not a "difficult to please" so and so who's never pleased. I just like hotels to deliver what they offer - so I like Travelodge : you know what you're going to get (or not !).

This place wants to be some imitation colonial style "gentleman's club". "Members lounge" etc etc. But reception has at best 1 overworked person on (unless you use the "auto check-in screen ...) And they're likely to be on phone.

Don't take a room on the top (8th) floor - tatty signs apologise for the "refurbishing" underway ... Which is long overdue. Tired and fatty (and very hot) rooms. Mine had loud air con units on roof outside - thankfully I'd got ny earplugs, without which no sleep !

Coffee supplies weren't replenished. No "guest locker" on this floor so have to go down a floor (discovering the stack of fire friendly carpets and adhesive stored in the fire escape staircase).

Hot water pressure so poor the shower not much more than dribble. Even the chilled water dispenser struggles to deliver.

Go somewhere else that delivers what it pretends to offer !

Check in and checkout was polite and efficient but the room really disappointing, looks like it hasn't been decorated in 20 years, horrible green carpets, marked fittings, small dirty window out into an internal ventilation shaft. A very poor sister in comparison to chains such as Premier Inn and Holiday Inn Express for a vastly inflated price. Clearly trades on City location and corporate deals but not quality or comfort. Renovation urgently needed.

Visited in May while working near Liverpool Street Station and had a good time. The hotel is located a seven-eight minutes walk from the station, and five minutes from the river. Didn't have breakfast or dinner but it looked like people from the street came in to eat so I figured it was decent.
Rooms were okay, though nothing to write home about.

Stayed here on a Friday evening for one night.

Check-in was relatively efficient, albeit initially rather impersonal (I get the impression they would rather everyone would/could use their computerised system in the lobby).

There were unfortunately no drinks in the lobby, although that was obviously a one-off thing, but not ideal after a long journey down to the capital.

Room was perfectly serviceable, bathroom clean and tidy. Can't complain about any aspect of the venue, in general; but the cost in general is reflective of somewhere nicer (it felt very much similar quality to a Premier Inn in terms of room standard, which is perfectly adequate but I would suggest not what the hotel chain is aspiring to).

Also, windows overlook offices, so you need to close curtains etc before showers or anything else!

As I say in the title this hotel is not for me. I booked two rooms for a Saturday night in town with the family. The hotel reception is so small that when we arrived we had to keep moving during our registration in order to let people in and out. The young man who checked us in was polite and in fact checked us in early, thank you. We were then told that we would actually be on two different floors, thank goodness for mobile phones. After registration we then had to dodge the pillars in order to reach the lifts, and went to our respective rooms. Although there were messages everywhere stating that some refurbishments were in progress, I did not expect wall paper hanging from walls, open wall linings and ripped, ragged carpets everywhere. Especially having paid full price for the rooms. Bedroom one, my bedroom, on the small side but did have a double bed with two bedside tables. Had to move the office chair so my partner could walk around the bed to reach bathroom etc. small but adequate bathroom, only one set of shower gel etc for a double room. When will these places learn there will be two people in the room. Bedroom two, my sister in laws room, was classed as a double and had a double bed, but could only get to one side of the bed. Again the bathroom was on the small side. No instructions were given for the heating and air con and this resulted in a very hot uncomfortable night in bed, having to open windows to breath. On checking out the hotel very kindly locked our cases away, as we had a later train to catch, but on return the room was opened and I was told "your cases are in there somewhere, you can find them". Good job I am honest because I think I could have walked out with any three cases.
Would I recommend this hotel? NO

We booked this place to show Galena's sister London for the very first time, she was not disappointed and in fact never stopped taking photographs. When returns to Russia she will be top of the class - all it took was a great location to explore from and the rest was easy. - simples!

Having driven down to pick up from Heathrow the drive into London was quite easy just follow the signs and then look hard and take you time to find the hotel, maybe best to look for Leadenhall and it is right opposite.

The room was fine, ready for a makeover, some were in progress but as this was just a base it was fine, comfy beds and a small galley kitchen for warming food if needed. We parked at a municipal car park - Baynard just over £30 for two nights. The hotel is very well situated to explore all over the place, just 10 mins walk from monument (great fire of. London) 20 mins from The tower/bridge and pier to take the Thames water bus to Westminster, a further 5 mons walk to St Katherine's dock - very peaceful and full of history, All Hallows' church and St Paul's all within easy walking distance. It would be better to say just mark up a map and walk everywhere in the immediate vicinity.

We arrived on a Friday at about 7 so the city workers were in full bar party mode, our vision was well impressed, the contrast over the weekend is amazing as all the lovely Basra fall silent.

Anyhow, if you want to explore London this is a fine place to start with bags of history and fine buildings, still feel sad about Paternoster row though, it is a vibrant part of the capital and easily the best for access to all points of the compass whether east or west end.

Book early and get up early and get walking you need to see the greatest city on earth by far, I always feel invigorated when I come there and my two lovely visitors were in awe!

Room Tip: Top floor to get up to the sky, inner or outer it matters not- you will be out all the time anyhow...
