Now, I realise that this place is reasonably cheap considering its location, but it is really not very nice. My bathroom was a plastic box like you might find in a ship's cabin on a cheap cruise and the room itself was dark and tired and frankly not very clean. On the plus side it is reasonably priced and an excellent location. Next time I will pay a bit more or walk a bit further, but won't be back.

I stayed with my boyfriends for two nights and we had a lovely time. All around great hotel! The rooms were a great size with a very comfortable bed. The location is unbeatable! It's close to tower bridge right in the heart of the City of London. Just down the street from Monument station. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely return and recommend this hotel to everyone.

I'd booked this hotel through hotwire and wasn't certain what to expect after reading other reviews. As others have mentioned check-in is rather chaotic with a tiny reception area and the insistence of the employees to use an electronic checking-in system that didn't work. My initial impressions of the room and public areas was good with nicely re-furbished decor; the complementary coffee and water machines are a nice touch. However, When I arrived back at the hotel at 10pm I was blanked by the 2 ladies in the reception "pod" who simply carried on their conversation. The view from the room was nothing but brick walls. The big let down for me though was the lack of apparent maintenance. I had to switch the a/c to 8 degrees before the machine kicked in and even having it on full fan power at 8 degrees the room never really cooled down. The water temperature in the shower was erratic - hot cold hot cold. Rather annoying. The towels were threadbare and ragged - more like you'd expect to find in a travelodge on the A1 than in a 4* hotel in London. The website markets the hotel as chic and "special". To be honest I've stayed in far better and more chic 4* hotels in London than this.

Location: Conveniently in the City, close to where I work / the Tower of London.

Staff: Friendly.

Rooms: The hotel is a bit warm on the inside. The room actually has a window that can open (unique in London!) for fresh air. However, the room itself was a bit smelly, humid and dark. It was quite big for a London room, had free wifi and a proper bathroom. The bed was big and comfortable.

Breakfast: No breakfast was served. However, during the day you can get snacks, coffee, cold water and various sodas from the lobby.

Overall: Nice place for a night in the city, don't expect too much.

This premise was perfect for our needs; central in London, reasonably priced, clean and friendly. It also had the advantage of being practically attached to a pub (there was even a stop in the lift for it!), which was a cheaper option than their bar and restaurant.

It did appear set up for business people travelling internationally, but it was fine for weekend tourists-if a little narrow in shape. I would certainly recommend it as a central location for seeing London, and also for business, as it offered all the free wifi etc that is essential these days.

The free coffee in the lounge was also a nice touch.
