“Best view in London”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2014

Recently returned from a very enjoyable 3 day break in London, with our stay at The Tower making the trip. On arrival the receptionist was extremely courteous and helpful (as were all the staff), locating a "room with a view" upon our request, and my was it worth it. Amazing views of the river Thames and of course Tower Bridge, which looked particularly lovely at night whilst sipping a drink from the hotel bar. Another lovely view of St Katherine's docks from the breakfast room whilst enjoying plentiful and well cooked/fresh food. Thoroughly recommend the freshly made omelettes. Can get a little busy. There is an absolute wealth of things to do in the surrounding area and the hotel is ideally located for The Tower of London, river cruises up to the O2, The Tate Gallery, the BFI, Borough Market (a must if you love food, we bought lots of picnic food to eat by the river) The National Theatre and much more besides. Yes, the hotel room could do with a lick of paint, as could perhaps the outside but quite frankly the views and surrounding area more than make up for that. If you do not use lifts it would be advisable to book a room on a lower floor as the stairs were not apparent! 7 flights of fire escape stairs meant I got my daily workout but was worth it for the view from our room. Thought at first there were no tea and coffee making facilities but they were merely tidily placed in a drawer (which was labelled, we just didn't notice it.) Bed beautifully comfortable, hot water plentiful, quiet even with the window slightly open (which it was nice to be able to do if you like fresh air). Can't wait for a return visit.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view, to take advantage of the glorious surroundings.

Decided. To visit London for my 40th birthday on 21st April for one night and booked A family room at the tower. Finding the tower if you haven't been before is a little tricky there's a little side road from the Main Street on your left you have to go down that way to get to it as the sat nav will take you to saint Katherine's way which is right by the hotel via the walkway bridge but you cannot access by car .Upon arrival the hotel doesn't look that great from the outside definitely needs updating. Inside however is really nice and staff are friendly
We were on the 8th floor, staying in the marina suite.we didn't have a view of the bridge unfortunately but we did have the marina, which is ok , the wall outside the window is a little high so it blocks the view a little bit.
The room was nice, large bathroom and the bed was very comfortable, had a good nights sleep, room was quiet considering the windows are single pane.carpet was a little frayed and furniture was marked and bit old fashioned for my liking.
There were no tea and coffee making facilities in the room even though on the website it does state that there is , there was a mini bar but it was completely empty. There were two Tvs which was handy as my 15yr old boy was with us . The rooms didn't look the same as they do on the website either. The location of the hotel though is perfect, stunning view . the Tower of London is right there , just over a walkway bridge.
Breakfast was nice plenty to choose from, we had to queue but not for long. A member of staff came along with some orange juice while we waited .
If you are looking to go sightseeing, please bear in mind that if you get a taxi your looking at around £26 from the hotel to say madam tussauds, and from the london eye to the hotel it cost £16
They do take cards as we'll in the taxi. You can get a taxi outside the hotel.
I would probley stay at the hotel again but would try and get a room with a bridge view .
And by the way the tower bridge at night is amazing

I have got the room with excellent views over Thames. Quite good breakfast. Helpfull staff. Good access to the City. A lot of restaurants and bars around. A little bit too expensive. But this is London.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with view over the river.

I booked The Tower because of it's location to Butlers Wharf on the South side of the Thames where I was due to have dinner. My expectations of this aged landmark were'nt high but I had a great stay. The receptionist Roberta was a delightful girl who asked me for my room view preference and which floor I would like. The room had the view, yes it's a bit dated but spotless and very comfortable.
Staff all really friendly and helpful - brilliant location and unbeatable Tower Bridge panorama.

We stayed for the weekend in a double Tower View room - the hotel is well located to reach any of the sights. We went by water taxi to Westminster Bridge only 15 mins and visited Westminster ab bey and Big Ben. At the rear of the. Hotel is St Katherine's dock which is a haven for beautiful yachts and breakfast is served on the first floor which overlooks this and is great. The tower bridge is right outside and under the bridge and 5 mins walk is the famous Tower of London of which you can spend the whole day - really interesting place!

Room Tip: Ask for Tower Bridge view rooms they are larger and have the best views of bridge and the Thames.

We stayed here for 1 night in March and upgraded to a room with a view of Tower Bridge, the room was lovely, the bed was soo comfy and the view was amazing especially at night! There are a few bars & restaraunts close by and the underground is only a 5 minute walk, also the area feels really safe to walk back at nighr. I would definately reccommend this hotel if you want a good location and great stay! Breakfast was amazing, the staff were great. A really lovely London hotel.

With Tower Bridge on one side, and St Katharine's Dock on the other, there can hardly be a more spectacularly situated hotel in the capital. The Tower of London is just around the corner, too.

The property has been hugely renovated since its early days as a Thistle hotel I was at the original opening!), and it now has a particularly eye-catching lobby. There seem to be staff everywhere, but - visiting for a conference - I couldn't help wondering what most of them actually do. The lobby coffee shop was firmly shut at teatime, and leaving or collecting coats with the concierge was an unnecessarily prolonged undertaking.

There are too few lifts for a property of the hotel's size, but – once you reach them – the conference rooms are smart and well serviced. Fellow attendees spending the night were well contented with their rooms.

This is not a cheap hotel, but it is good value for money. Perhaps it would be even better value if they either got rid of some surplus staff or persuaded them to actually do something.

Room Tip: The views are everything. Make sure you get a good one.
