“Best in it's range in London but get rid of the silver van outside!!!!!”
Reviewed 16 July 2014

We've stayed here many times for around 25 years now and this is the first time we have been disappointed. I'll get to that in a minute. Firstly the staff are brilliant including concierge, restaurant and bar staff to the bloke that carried the bags. They are all without fail excellent. Location is perfect and the rooms are normally extremely good. Meals, drinks and room service are likewise faultless and as mentioned, before this visit we preferred this hotel to most of the five stars. Here we go.....
There is now a big silver airstream van parked on the tower side selling something but actually playing extremely loud music from external speakers from 09.00 until 21.00 one evening. The noise was deafening through closed windows on the third floor. Apparently this belongs to the hotel. Whoevers idea this was please sack them. Some small businesses, ie market traders, do use music to entice customers in. The Tower is a four star hotel which charges more for a bridge view therefore you are being charged to listen to tinny blaring music. We were moved to an executive room immediately on the dock side which was great. A big fuss was made about giving us free parking to compensate. This added up to £100.00 which really didn't cover it but I gladly accepted it to find out later, at home, that parking for an executive room was free anyway. Also we left just after they closed the roads for the tour de france and access away from the hotel or the whole of Wapping was impossible without getting the wife to chat up a copper - you could have told us about the TDF, I wondered why the concierge pretended to be busy leaving my wife to carry the bags out for the first time ever. Like I say 25 years a regular and sadly we will not be back while that silver van is there.

Room Tip: Do not get a room with a Bridge view unless you enjoy the whole chavvy, carnival, rave scene.

My boyfriend and I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. We had a basic room which had all the amenities that you need although it was really small, so it was hard to fit two suitcases in the room. Despite that the hotel staff was really friendly and helpful in any time of the day. The hotel is situated in the quieter part in more business district of London next to the Tower of London and the Tower Bridge. If you want to go to places like Covent Garden or catch a West End show it would take you about 20-30mins to get to that part of the city that has a lot more bars, restaurants and shopping going on.
The hotel is also next to the river Thames and St Katherine's Dock which is really beautiful at night and has a couple of restaurants in that area. Be aware that most restaurants in that area close around 10pm which was kind of a disappointment but some of them turn into bars if you want to get a drink.

I would recommend this hotel to couples and business travelers that want to stay in a comfortable hotel close to all London attraction but away from all the city noise.

We've stayed at this hotel several times going back to when it was part of the Thistle group. First time we've stayed since it has joined Guoman. It is still a good hotel. We had a view of the river and the room was comfortable. Was disappointed that there were no tea or coffee facilites in the room though. Being a four star hotel, I would have thought it would have come as standard. Breakfast and service were good.

I stayed at the Tower Guoman because of an event that took place at St Katherine's Dock, so where better could you stay! The lcoation is superb. i had a room with view on the Tower Bridge (room 331) which is really marvellous.
Breakfast is moderate, not really special but there is all you need.
The outside of the hotel looks really terrible and do need a makeover. It looks old and dirty. The windo frames do need some fresh painting.
But nevertheless, inside the hotel looks good.
Staff is friendly and willing to assist if you need anything.

Room Tip: Toom 331 has a queen size bed and a view on the Tower Bridge

Location, quality of hotel and staff were excellent. We booked for a long weekend for 3 couples and it didn't disappoint. The views from our room was of st Katherine Dock, and from the dining room or bar was Tower bridge, superb location . There was a queue on arrival too book in, but were were given a glass of bubbly whilst we waited, the check in was efficient and speedy( see last note on this review as we had problems with payment ). The rooms were small but nice decor very clean and well stocked , tea/coffee etc, hair dryer, iron /ironing board , basically everything required. We had breakfast and at £12 per person was good value, buffet ,fruit, cereal, juices, full English , anything u required and as much as you wanted. We had a drink in the bar, 1/2 larger and a g & t £11 and a few pence. There is a coffee snack bar in the reception area reasonable prices. And a Starbucks outside the hotel with a tesco express 25 yards around the corner so as stated , excellent.the staff are friendly, proffesional and polite.

*** our grumble ** my hubby booked months ago for 3 double rooms through booking.com, his debit card was charged for 1 room only, so he rang booking.com and the hotel direct too confirm he had booked 3 rooms, and too ask why the full payment not been taken. He couldn't get an answer from ANYONE he spoke too ' it will be taken soon' and ' don't worry it will be sorted , u have 3 rooms reserved ' on arrival/checking we were Told only 1 room was paid for and the card had been DECLINED for the other 2 payments. IN ACTUAL FACT THE BOOKING PAYMENT WAS NOT DECLINED , hubby rang on at least 8 separate occasions too pay but was told all ok . So wasn't happy we were embarrassed with the declined comment, especially as it was the hotels incompetency

However we. Enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again

I regularly stay here for work. Although the standard rooms are a little dated they are spacious and comfortable. The executive rooms are more modern and have better facilities but are slightly smaller. Worth asking for a room looking over the Thames and Tower bridge as the night view never ceases to impress. Breakfast buffet is good and service is conveniently quick. The tower is a better alternative to other hotel chains in the area who often charge the same if not more.
