Forgot to leave a comment so here it is. Stayed at the Tower hotel 22nd July for extended stay up-town. Arrived at 12o/c and welcomed with a greeting smile from behind the reception, booking in was over in a few minutes and we were left to relax in our room on the 5th floor with a view of Tower bridge.A brief tidy up, and down to lunch and a bottle of wine with my Lady. Many thanks to the staff and the "no trouble sir / madam" attitude that seemed to run through the Hotel...Parking is cheap at the hotel if your staying and FREE with our Executive room, also with the 5th floor there is a lounge bar with FREE drinks and a fairly well stocked FREE mini-bar in the room......... If your reading this to the end go executive class for the full on experience at this great spot, early book in, late book out and good food...Well done all for a great stay, I hope to return soon.

Room Tip: A view west gives you Tower bridge,a view east gives you St Kathrines dock and a view south looks ov...

Possibly the best located hotel in London after the Shangrila at The Shard. Incredible views of tower bridge, particularly at night from the hotel bar. Hotel was built in the 60's and whilst inside is very nice and rooms interiors are perfectly presentable and modern; the outside needs a considerable facelift. Breakfast was excellent.

This hotel is in a (very) good location next to the river and Tower Bridge but the rooms are small and the hotel is generally becoming dated and in need of a facelift. The wi-fi has improved as previously it was impossible to get a connection in the bedrooms.

I stayed for two weekend nights in July. The hotel was clearly busy, quite full and getting ready for a big wedding party. I checked in early at 2pm which was not a problem and check in was swift and efficient. I was shown to a room on the tenth floor with a great view over the river, Tower Bridge to the right and a view right down the Thames to the left. Being on the tenth floor at the end of the corridor the room was very quiet and had the added bonus of a small side window as well as front facing windows. The room was booked as part of a package trip so I do not know what the room rate was.
The room itself was a twin (single beds) and small in comparison to what you might get in similar rated hotel in USA/Canada. It was reasonably well decorated, clean and comfortable with a small table and two comfortable chairs.
The ensuite bathroom was clean, enough towels (changed each day), hot water and a good shower which due the the hot sticky weather was made well use of.
The only real downside for the room for me was the wi-fi. All rooms are advertised as having free wi-fi but I could not get my phone to connect at all. However, I did find out before leaving that to connect to the wi-fi you need to actually go online and register the service first, presumably so they have your details for marketing purposes which put me off registering.
I did not experience any large queues for breakfast. The breakfast is buffet style self service with a good range of cereals, fruit, cold meats, breads, juices, and hot "full English" dishes.
The reception staff were very helpful to me on my last day when I could not get a print out of a ticket for the London Eye on their free PC/printers in the lobby. I was able to email it to the receptionist who printed it out from her desk. A bit of a palaver but saved the day for me. They were also able to put my bags into storage after check out for collection later that day.
The bar prices are what you would expect to pay in a London Hotel, I had a couple of drinks on the Lawn area to the front of the hotel and if you do not want to eat in the Bistro then you are only a short walk from much cheaper places such as the Weatherspoons opposite London Tower.

Room Tip: Room 1015 is quiet, has great views East over the river, and you can see most of Tower Bridge to the...

Dear Reviewer,
Thank you for taking the time to post such a detailed review. I am sorry to read that we let you down over Wi-Fi; this is complimentary throughout the hotel and is provided via BT Wi-Fi. Whilst you do need to click to connect, I would like to assure you that no details or registration is required and I am sorry this was not explained correctly to you. I hope that you enjoyed your visit to London and the next time you’re in town, we have the chance to welcome you back.
Kind regards
Billy

The staff at The Tower were polite, friendly, pro-active without being over the top and professional.Congratulations to all of the staff. Unfortunately, much of the rest of my stay was disappointing. This is a hotel seemingly stuck in a 1970s time warp (with the breakfast coffee possibly dating from the same era). Decor was tired, facilities not what one would expect of a quality hotel. The Tower's view of the Thames and London Bridge are excellent, and next door Katherine Dock is delightful. It is a huge hotel, clearly with a high turnover of guests.Staying in a suite on the 11th Floor, I was struck by the modest quality of facilities, the out dated look and the uncomfortable knowledge that it was easy for overlooking rooms to see clearly into my suite. The peeling external paint work and drab architecture did not help.Breakfast was mixed - tea and coffee pretty much undrinkable but a really good range of fruit and tasty British breakfast at the buffet. The waiters and waitresses were efficient, friendly and very helpful. The Executive Lounge was very well staffed, but was disappointing in terms of the provision of refreshments, decor and ambiance. The gym was good and there was plenty of space in the foyer areas - light and airy. The suite where I stayed was roomy but outdated and not worth the price - the hotel would need to reduce the cost by at least 25% to start bringing it into the correct price bracket. My colleague stayed in an executive room which was startling small and modestly equipped.Overall, the staff were fantastic.....but the rest of the hotel let them, and the guests, down.

Room Tip: High floors overlooking the Thames and Tower Bridge clearly are lovely, and I suspect the rooms over...

Stayed one night , nice hotel in a great location. The hotel is a little dated but the staff all have a smile for you and very friendly and it makes you feel very welcome
Had a high room with a good view of the dock and room was quite specious and clean. Work paid for the hotel as not sure I would pay 170 per night if I was paying
Location is excellent and your right in the middle of everything. Starbucks next door and nice lawn area to have a glass of vino in late evening

Room Tip: Get a high room with a good view

It’s great that you enjoyed our new feature, The Lawn; this was launched last month and is a fantastic new space to enjoy food and drink whilst watching the world go by. I hope to see you back on The Lawn and in the Tower again soon.
Kind Regards

This hotel has one thing going for it......location! Ask for a room with a view of Tower Bridge and it is a view of one of the most iconic landmarks in the world and it is all yours + added bonus of a good view of The Shard. Likewise in the bar and some of the outdoor areas. The downsides however are many, room decor is dated (although some room refurbishment is underway), check-in is a "mare" and seems to take forever, lengthy queues for breakfast - average food, bar is comparatively expensive for what it is, lifts, poor fitness room ............and for £175 per night. The rate is totally variable by the way
