“Truly Different Class”
Reviewed 12 July 2014 via mobile

My wife and I have been coming to this hotel for a number of years. When it closed down for renovation works we were apprehensive and concerned that the refurbishment may spoil the charm of the old "Chancery Court Hotel". We needn't have worried. From the moment we walked into the newly refurbished Rosewood Hotel the enhancements were clear to see. From the decor to the service the changes were remarkable. We have stayed in a number of rooms and suites and each has a unique charm. The aesthetics speak for themselves however the quality of staff is on another level. A special thank you needs to go out to Gary the head doorman who has a special knack of making you feel so welcome and at home. From the first time to the last visit he never forgets a face or a name and is consistently charming. A big thanks Gary for your attentiveness during our birthday stay over the Arsenal weekend. Like I said in the review heading "different class"! Mark & Tamsin Mitchell

I have stayed in a number of 5 star hotels in London, but this one appears to be the best yet. Absolutely beautiful fit out of the whole premises from the entrance, reception, rooms and restaurant I can't fault any of it. Great service from all the staff.

I was awed as I was driving up in a cab. The building is beautiful, it is off the main street in a courtyard. The bell man helped to shield us from the rain as we pulled in with an umbrella. He then offered to chase down the cab when I thought I left my umbrella in it. The lobby is beautiful, the check in staff are great. They let me know where the hair dryer was, where I should plug it in, etc.

The rooms are a good size for London. I have stayed at the Andaz at Liverpool and the Berkeley for work. This is my favorite so far. It's such a great location, steps from the Holborn stop. There is a grocery store next to the hotel, a Starbucks across the street, and many restaurants, bars, and other food shops on the same block. I'm sad I didn't stay here before!

I will definitely stay here again. My only complaint is that the water pressure is poor. Otherwise, It's a lovely hotel at a more reasonable rate than others. I highly recommend it!

I forgot to add, free and GOOD WiFi!

This is the best hotel I have been to, anywhere.

The welcome was superb.

My room wasn't ready for me upon arrival, but I was given a complimentary coffee in the Hotel Bar. The bar was stunningly beautiful. They have live music in the evenings.

My room was spacious and very clean. The bed was ridiculously comfortable and the bathroom very stylish. The cosmetics were gorgeous. Coffee machine in room, and huge television.
There was iPod dock, but only with an iPhone 4 adapter, so my iPhone 5 didn't fit. They may well provide an iPhone 5 adapter, but I didn't call down to reception to ask. My own fault.
While I was out for dinner they re-serviced my room: clean towels, curtains drawn, bed turn down, ice for beverages.

The spa was gorgeous. Steam room, sauna, ice shower. Again all the products you need to smell lovely and get yourself ready for the day. Complimentary fruit and water in the gym.
The gym was very small. Not much equipment for weight training. But then again, who really goes to a hotel for the gym?

Breakfast was divine! Best eggs benedict ever from their a-lal-carte menu. Lovely coffee.

Only niggle was some strange sounds coming from somewhere at 4am, which woke me up. Called down to reception to have it investigated and they sorted out the problem- even though I don't know what it was. And woken again at 8am (not awful, but I had been drinking the night before so wouldn't have minded a few more hours) by perhaps a water pump and some banging. Again, not sure what, but the hotel insisted they would investigate. I hope I'm not just going crazy.

All in all though it was an incredible experience. And I would give an arm and a leg to stay there again.

Just heaven.

Everything about this hotel makes me a happy guest - and I rarely can find a place where there aren't small inconsistencies to be improved!

Let's start from the beginning - magnificent, beautifully renovated building. Charming doorman service, efficient and smooth check in, spacious (for London) room. Was offered an upgrade for a small surcharge, shown the room and decided to take it, but would be perfectly happy with the first room as well - all while chatting away with the delightful gentleman who showed me around.

The room - the attention to detail is amazing. The decor with engraved poems is enchanting, the quality of even the smallest item in the room top class, the amount of accessories/small items a traveller might need impressive. For example, if you are not lucky enough to live in Britain, you will find a socket that fits your charger on one of the walls and this is just one of the little treats around the room that will make your life much easier.

In fact, the decor everywhere in the building is just a delight. The small touches like kids' books in the hallway are simply lovely.

The restaurant is spacious and elegant. We only had lunch there and took fish and chips, curious to see how the chefs would make this dish a 5 star experience. It was not an entirely successful attempt, but still a nice meal. Service fantastic.

Overall, we loved it and we are going back for my partner's birthday in a few weeks. Not sure we will even leave the hotel as it is such a great oasis of calm and relaxation in the city.

Being one of the largest metropolises in the world, London has an array of hotel options to offer any kind of traveller. However, there are only a few hotels that stand tall and mighty in comparison to the rest. Rosewood London is not only one of them, but the crop of the best.

Located on Holborn High, not far away from London's buzzing shopping heart, the hotel offers an experience unlike any other in the city. The website describes this perfectly upon arrival: "Guests arrive at Rosewood London through an archway that opens into a grand Edwardian courtyard, in a little oasis of tranquillity unique among London luxury hotels. It is the perfect start to a memorable stay in a timeless heritage hotel, set just steps from Covent Garden."

The hotel is truly exceptional. Every detail is taken into account. The staff are eager to help and are probably the sharpest dressed hotel staff you will ever see. Once you enter the vicinity, the utmost of attentiveness is offered throughout you stay. This includes butlers, 24 hours services, amazing room services, friendly reception and round-the-clock upkeep of the facilities.

Plainly put, the rooms are to die for. Spacious, luxurious and tranquil - the rooms are a far stretch from the other hotels in London. The marble bathrooms are fitted with TV screens and every detail is taken into account, from space for luggage to the provision of two sinks for rooms catering to couples. The mini-bar is not mini. It has everything from beer, to English sweets to free organic vodka and gin.

The setting is that of British modern luxury. The seamless decor is streamlined to equip everything in the room without compromising the overall look of the suites. The lighting is carefully studied to fit all corners of the rooms and the panelling is custom-made for each unit. The aura of the interior design is grand, yet inviting. When the Rosewood London describes itself as "ultra-luxury" - it is definitely not kidding around. For short-term travellers to London, this is the closest to an English heritage setting one can get without leaving central London.

Other than the hotel's exceptional facilities, the entrance is hugged by two of the best culinary venues in the area. Scarfes Bar offers a rustic English lounge setting with some of the best mix cocktails (and impeccable service) this side of Tottenham Court Road. As the website describes: "Gerald Scarfe, renowned British artist and caricaturist has lent his name and artistic vision to Scarfes Bar where his completed artwork has now been revealed. Gerald’s collection of amusing and conversation-provoking paintings, highlighting his best work, adorn the marble walls turning Scarfes Bar into a living canvas, described by Gerald as 'my personal art gallery, where you can see my life on walls.' Gerald’s collection of original and one-off paintings, now a permanent feature in the bar, add a unique twist and depict well-known historical and famous faces recounting the colourful history of the United Kingdom in Gerald’s witty and satirical way."

While Holborn Dining Room, previously known as the East Banking Hall of Pearl Assurance, keeps the tradition of the hotel by offering delicious British dishes with a modern twist in what seems like an American style diner. Designed by Martin Brudnizki, the restaurant is divided into eight sections: Bar Snacks, Cold Counter, Hot Counter, Grill, English Kitchen, Sides, Sandwiches and Afters. It makes for a great starting point for a night out on the town!

Rosewood London is truly an experience in and of itself. It is one of those few high calibre hotels that gets accommodation from A to Z without being too pompous. A stay here will ensure a great trip! Highly recommended!
