“Affordable accommodation in Central London”
Reviewed 20 April 2014

I will definitely stay here again. The location and the price were ideal. Easy to get to and from by bus. Walking distance to Covent Gardens, Trafalgar Square and Picadilly Circus. Lots of restaurants and shops close by. I was able to book theatre and tour tickets at the hotel. The staff were very helpful. I really lucked out when I chose this hotel. As a result, I had a great stay in London.

Second time we've stayed here as the location is very good. Our room was more spacious than our last visit as we were lucky to be given a family room. It was plainly decorated, clean but basic and a tiny bathroom. The hotel has been modernised, though now lacks character. The reception area was spacious, the staff helpful. The breakfast is not worth £15pp. The restaurant is too small for the amount of guests, it was busy, chaotic and fairly unorganised. As we were leaving a long queue had formed to get in, we would have been annoyed if we had had to queue for the cost. It is DIY, self service, lack of bowls and long line ups for the buffet. We wish we had gone to any of the many local cafés in the strand for breakfast for half/third of the cost with better value. Not sure if this hotel is worth the cost, maybe worth searching for a better value hotel though the location does give it an advantage. We may consider this hotel again for 1 or 2 nights due to location but will probably look around 1st for a better value 4* hotel.

This time they stayed they had an en suite!! How things change over the yrs. My parents couldn't compliment there stay enough and the staff, and quality of service made their Anniversary go without any problems. Thank you

Covent Gardens location. Attentive staff. Easy access to London attractions. Tour and theatre tickets booked through concierge service were outstanding. English breakfast served daily could not have been nicer.

This is a famous large hotel of London opposite the Savoy near Covent Garden. Although officially 3 star it is worthy of 4, though my room is small (I used a single),it is recently decorated and well equipped with tea maker and some free snack. Has good free internet and the lobby has newspapers to take away including Daily Telegraph and Times. The receptionist will ask if you need newspaper delivered and if you say yes you will be charged. I also asked for an adapter and she referred me to the concierge, who suggested that I could buy one from him for five pounds and there is none to be borrowed. With perfect location, I rates it one of the best-valued of London (though room rates are seasonal), despite short comings that are not really material, so I shall be back depending on room rate at the next time. Must bear in mind that London generally has the most expensive but worst hotels....so this is one "exceeding my expectation".

Expensive for a tiny room but the room has everything you may need. It's also clean and relatively new. Room could do with a bit of light. Can hear the helicopter all the time, so odd. Price to pay for great location! Will probably stay there again if I've to be right smack in the middle of everything.

I stayed at the Strand Palace for 3 nights whilst on a course with work with three colleagues. The hotel is in a fantastic location, right opposite the Savoy and is in amongst the theatres. It is also in walking distance to most attractions such as Covent Gardens, Trafalgar Square, China Town, Piccadilly Gardens, the Thames etc. There are a number of good restaurants close by if you choose not to eat at the hotel.

The hotel itself was clean and tidy, we had single rooms which were very small but had everything we required, there was a TV, tea making facilities and toiletries. The rates were quite expensive and varied extensively throughout the week starting from £100 to £170.

The breakfast was lovely, no complaints at all, we were seated quickly and when the main breakfast room was full there was a second room which is an Indian restaurant at lunch and dinner where breakfast was served. The variety was fantastic from continental to a full English served buffet style so you could help yourself. There was also plenty to drink from tea, coffee to a range of fruit juice or water.

The hotel seemed busy and had a number of bars and restaurants to choose from with access to a souvenir shop. The lobby was a good spacious area, ideal as a meeting point. The staff seemed very pleasant and friendly. As we were there on business we never used the on site facility for booking trips, theatre tickets etc but this is a good facility to have available on site.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family and for other business trips.
