Stayed in Strand Palace for long weekend between 16 and 19 May. Checking in was only real problem as room was not ready, and when we did get to room it was a double not a twin, but after we reported to reception it was quickly resolved. Setting this minor blip aside, have to say our stay was really very enjoyable. Location is second to none, and only a short walk to most London landmarks. We went for breakfast each morning around 10am and there was no queue any morning and the choice of food on offer was very good to. As we stayed Sunday night we had complementary carvery dinner and this was great to. Our room was on second floor along hotel front on the strand, and like any big city there will be noise, but the room had shutters instead of curtains which kept the noise out. So all in all great hotel in a great location and will definitely be staying again if going to London.

Room Tip: No because if outer room people complain about noise from strand or inner room to dark. Go with the...

Okay, you can't really top the loaction. And the rooms are nice, albeit tiny (at least the single rooms - a colleague termed it the battery cage...) and clean (not always a given in London). Staff was friendly, but service quite slow - make sure you're not in a hurry if you want to check in or out, order room service or want a drink in the bar... And booking arrangements for our meeting participants were so inflexible, I've never experienced anything like it - you had to pay everything up front, were not able to make any changes later, private days added by participants were charged at higher rates etc.
On the whole I must say if I pay this amount of money I expect more. More space, staff going out of their way to provide excellent service just a bit more etc. The guys at the concierge desk were great, though! And the breakfast buffet very nice, too. And the best (albeit pricey): the G&T Menu! Worth trying!

Stayed in the hotel for 2 night in Executive room. The room was small but comfortable. Had all the necessary things such as kettle, safe box, bathrobe, slippers and Ipad/Iphone charger.
But!!! Take earplugs as you hear everything that happens around your room.
The location of the hotel is key. Savoy hotel is just in front, with all restaurants and lounges available! Right behind the corner is Coven Garden which is definitely an entertainment hub! There are also a lot of dinning options around.
I will not recommend to take breakfast in the hotel, as it is very basic and there is too crowded. You can find cheaper options near the hotel.
The hotel is very loaded and there are too many people, so the staff is not very attentive and friendly. Most of the time they just do not care .. On Saturday evening it is very hard to catch the taxi near hotel. When we asked to call for a taxi, the lady on reception gave us a phone number on a piece of paper, pointed somewhere and said: Go there and order a taxi by yourself. The operator on the phone was even more rude (plus she asked the room number in order to charge us for the call...).

I can't say that I enjoyed my stay, but location is very convenient, so it is ok for 1-2 days stay.

Great location it has too be said - but tired, outdated and far too big for me. Restaurant for breakfast was oh so small for the amount of rooms and guests, but in fairness they moved people about as swiftly as possible and breakfast was fair.
I just felt the hotel on the whole was not as good as it could have been and there was huge room for improvement. The bed was incredibly hard, and the pillows similarly - ensuring a less than decent nights sleep! As our visit was paid for by someone else I can't comment on VFM, but I wouldn't choose to stay here again when there are better hotels similarly close.

I spent two nights in the strand palace hotel in May 2014. This was a business trip and the hotel was booked by my company and they usually reserve a room in the Strand Pelace Hotel. What is the best about the hotel is its location about 3-4 min walk from Trafalgar Square so it really couldn't be more centrally located. The room was a single room with nothing really special but clean and served the purpose. The breakfast buffet offers a wide enough selection of everything you may want to have for breakfast (both English and continental). We only had a chance to get breakfast on the first morning as on the following day we had to leave very early to catch our plane at Luton airport. We asked for a brakfast box which was really good and it even contained some freshly baked cookies which is quite unusual according to my experience in other hotels (We usually get randomly picked junk). When we had breakfast in the restaurant we did not have to wait, we were immediately seated but when we left the restaurant we saw some 20 people queuing infront of the entrance. So you have to arrive in the right time in order to avoid the crowd. (What is the right time? Hm... A one night stay was too short to find out.)
WiFi was free and fast enough in the rooms.
This is all.
Have I mentioned the superb location of the hotel? This is what really makes it worth to choose it as your base for exploring the city of London. Other than this I really couldn't mention anything in terms of what makes it different from other hotels in London.

Stayed here for 2 nights 16th/17th May. This was the second successive year we have been at this hotel and once again it didn't disappoint. The Staff are very helpful, the breakfast was excellent and bedrooms very comfortable. Will definitely stop here again when returning to London, it's an ideal location for Covent Garden, theatre land and much more.

Room Tip: We was located at the rear of the hotel and found it very quite which was ideal.

This was a return visit and just as good as previous times, staff welcoming and helpful, great location, very clean comfortable rooms with great shower. Shutters on windows are a good idea as keep out light and any noise. Plentiful choice at breakfast. Overall, when you take into account the location it's great value for money and would certainly be one of my first choices when staying in London.

Room Tip: Executive rooms are worth it, and you have your breakfast in the Covent Garden Suite which has waitr...
