Stayed one night in the Strand. Location was excellent for sight seeing and for seeing a show. There were several theaters within a short distant from the hotel. Great location for Covent Gardens. Rooms clean. Breakfast good nice cooked breakfast.
The only thing that I would say is that the rooms were very hot, they do have fans in the rooms and we had it on all night. Staff friendly. Would stay again for location

Stayed for one night at the Strand.... quite expensive for a basic kind of room, but the refurb is very good.
I had read reviews on the bedrooms being hot and noisy from traffic on the Main Strand road and yes it was.
The location is a short walk from Covent Garden and Leicester square (if you are travelling by tube and have never been before, best tube is Charing Cross).
Breakfast was plentiful and delicious.
Only had one problem - no flannels in the bathroom!

This was my second stay at the Strand Palace and unfortunately I am forced to reduce my overall rating of the hotel due to one factor. The complete lack of ventilation in the summer heat. I stayed in a single club room this time and found it a nice upgrade from the standard single which I stayed on my first visit. The room was small and compact, but practical. The breakfast is nothing special, but adequate to start off the day. Overall the hotel, is a good value for price for central London. The ventilation issue must be addressed before I will re-book this hotel again in the summer months. Simple circulation fans mounted in the windows in common areas would create enough of air flow to reduce the greenhouse effect that currently exists.

I've stayed in lots of Hotels in London and this one would now rate as the least preferred. Location is good - but when compared to others it falls way short -
no air con & rooms only have a window that opens about 3 inches - it was hot and stuffy affecting the sleep
hallways are a maze
room tight (perhaps there are bigger ones elsewhere in the Hotel)
only one towel supplied as the standard
don't feel at all that it is in any way a home away from home, unlike some other Hotels
have to pay 10 pound for the wifi for 24 hours

On check in the hotel took far too much money from my debit card with no explination. When I tried to sort this out with the duty manager he said I didnt understand as I am foreign. I didnt realise that having a Yorkshire accent made me foreign, and I found the remark offensive.
We were given a room so tiny I couldnt stay in it - and it was supposed to be a club room. We asked if a mistake had been made - but no, it was a Club Room. We asked to be moved and were grudgingly given another fractionally bigger room - but still very small. We were woken every morning by workmen in the hotel, the room was very, very, hot and stuffy . We couldnt open the window any further than the 6" it was jammed at. I couldnt beleive such a big hotel in such a good location could be so bad. I couldnt find any staff who spoke English as their first language to complain to [and of course as I am a foriegner from Yorkshire I wouldnt have understood anyway].

I've stayed here quite a few times on business over the last year. Great location both for my business meetings and also for restaurants, Covent Garden etc etc. Club rooms vary - some are very small, some a reasonable size. Bathrooms vary too. Breakfast tends to be "hit and miss" - not particularly good quality and frequent queues as hotel so large. Also reception can be chaotic with various coach tours checking in and out. Also no air con so far too hot in warmer months.
