“Theatre Trip”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2014

Stayed here for two nights for theatre visits.
Hotel is well placed for West End and Oxford Street shopping.
Last stayed here four years ago and much of decor seems to have changed little in that time, with some areas needing a little attention (having said that there were workmen there during our visit).
Check in was handled efficiently and we were on way to room within a couple of minutes.
Room itself was well appointed if on the small side, compared to other hotels used in the same area. Windows too are a little on the small side and don't open far enough.
Concierge desk was staffed by friendly staff who were more than willing to help, from handling luggage upon arrival to obtain cabs.
The only real downside was breakfast, whilst your room card does say to go for breakfast before 8:00 to eat at leasure, when you are away for a couple days you don't always want to rise early. We went for breakfast at 9:00 and having spent about 10 minutes trying to find seating (for four) we gave up and went back to maitre de who seemed completely unconcerned with lack of seating and that we would have to wait another fifteen to twenty minutes, suffice to say we walked away and for both our morning ate outside the hotel.
One of our party is diabetic and was unable to find Diet Coke in the hotels vending machines.

Room Tip: Try for towers away from Tottenham Court Road as traffic noise can be high.

This hotel has an excellent location, a lot of London's favorite tourist locations are within walking distance.
But the room is very small, there's hardly any place to stash your baggage and the shower is tight. On the other hand, the room had all you need and was very clean.
Breakfast is very good but we had to queue every morning to get a seat ! Try to be early at breakfast to avoid waiting with a rumbling stomach.
Hudson's, the in-house bar, is nice with good food and beer, but a bit noisy. Turn the music down a few notches, guys, so people can talk !
We didn't try the swimming pool of YMCA, which you can reach from within the hotel, but it looked very nice.
Staff is really friendly and helpful.
All in all, good value for your money, but don't expect a luxury hotel with spacey rooms.

Room Tip: if you pick this hotel in the summertime, get a room with airco. Because rooms are hot and stuffy, a...

I stayed here for one night for a job interview in London and it was fine. The location is great, only a ten to fifteen minute walk to many of the big tourist areas. The check-in experience was a bit odd as they didn't tell me my room number on arrival which left me needing to rifle through multiple sheets of paper to find it, but apart from that they were friendly and it was efficient. Check-out was great, only had to drop my key into a box when heading out. The room itself was fine in its amenities, but very, very warm. I had requested the quiet side of the hotel, but it wasn't as quiet as I had hoped. The noise from outside made opening the window impossible, so I used the fan provided instead to try to cool down, which helped a bit. The walls are also very thin - I could hear exactly what the neighbours were saying - but I think I was unlucky in being placed near a school party who didn't have much respect for other guests! It was unfortunate that they were staying in what had been designated the quiet side of the hotel. Overall, it was fine and efficient for one night, but I wouldn't rush to stay for longer.

Only stayed one night. Great Location, five minutes walk to Leicester Sq etc.

Room quite small, and the shower cubicle was "tight" for space, but what it lacks in space makes up for in its location.

Would stay again if I need a room for one night only.

Reception staff friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: I was only on the second floor, but didnt hear any noise from the streets

Having booked this hotel for 3 nights arriving on the 25th I decided to take the reviews with a pinch of salt. We paid upfront for a good deal on room rates and I was determined to be positive. People said check in was awful. It was the most painless experience I've had in any star hotel. The room was small but we had everything we needed. We had no problems with the lifts but being on the 2nd floor meant stairs were an option too! There was noise outside when the window was open but considering you're in Central London you cannot blame the hotel. We invested in £1.99 earplugs and slept soundly! Check out was simple and taxis were waiting to take us to the station! Loved my weekend away. Loved the hotel. I've paid boutique prices in London and didn't have half as good a time! The money saved on the room went into playing out in London! Ignore the haters. X

I stayed in the St Giles Hotel for 1 night on business and thought it was very good value for money. Check in was smooth and staff pleasant, room was clean and adequate, wide choice of food for breakfast. Hudson's Bar was good with a good variety of beer, it was busy and with a decent atmosphere. The hotel is well situated with tube station nearby and within walking distance of Oxford Street, Covent Garden and Leicester Square. Would definitely stay at the hotel again.

I stayed here for 2 nights with my mum and had a great time. We were able to check in before 2 and we're very pleased with our room on the 4th floor. The room was small but we don't come to London to stay in the room all day. The room was spotless as was the bathroom. There was plenty of towels and the shower had plenty of hot water. The bed was very comfortable and there were extra pillows and a blanket if you needed. We had a bed and breakfast deal and the breakfast was fab. Would advise to get to breakfast before 8am if you don't want to queue. Great choice of hot and cold food and all good quality. Hotel staff all so lovely, friendly and happy to help. Would stay here again and would recommend to anyone who wants a good quality hotel in a central location.

Room Tip: Get to breakfast room before 8am if you don't want to queue as breakfast room gets very busy
