Our second stay at The Gore Hotel. Love the character and grandness of this hotel. Also a great time had in Bar190. Again a reason for returning. Love the area also. Unfortunately we were woken early by the refuse collection of bottles (8:00) after a very late night out. This happened on our first stay also....:(((e

Very nice boutique hotel, service is really good, except may be at the bar.
Overall very good experience. 10mn from the subway but near Hyde Park, which is really nice when weather is great as it was the case for us!

Lovely hotel - perfect for romantic weekend and so close to Royal Albert Hall. On street parking right behind hotel is free after 6:30 on a Saturday and would recommend breakfast in cafe on Solent in Hyde park - which is just across the road.

We stayed at the Gore hotel for two nights for Valentines day in February and had a lovely stay. The hotel had been recommended to me by a friend so when I saw a special offer on Secret Escapes, I jumped at the chance to stay there.
Beautifully decorated, the hotel is in the gorgeous terraced buildings of South Kensington, about a quarter of a mile from the park. The rooms are furnished with rich heavy fabrics and big old wooden beds so it is perfect for a romantic weekend.
The hotel was very convenient for us, as we wanted to visit a museum locally and it is the perfect location for the Science Museum, the Natural History Museum and the Royal Albert Hall amongst others. However, if you want to spend time in the centre of town, such as Covent Garden, Leicester Square etc, be aware that you are about half an hour away by cab (about £20) or tube, plus it is a ten minute walk to the tube station.
We stayed in a "wonderful room" which was very comfortable with a great bed, big bathroom and fantastic shower. Bath robes, slippers and air con all contribute to a comfortable stay. We also liked the fact that the windows open, which is sometimes not possible in more modern hotels.
There are not facilities to make tea and coffee in the bedrooms but there is constant tea, coffee, biscuits and bottled water available in the lounge downstairs, so we just helped ourselves whenever we wanted a drink.
We ordered room service which took about 50 minutes so the manager removed the cost from the bill which we thought was a good gesture. As it turned out, the chicken Caesar salads that we ordered were tremendously good, even if we did have to eat them in a hurry before we had to leave for our evening out.
We had breakfast both mornings in the hotel and it was of a very high standard. Fresh leaf tea, a really nice buffet with a wide selection of breads, pastries, fruit, yoghurt and cereals. The a la carte menu was extensive with some unusual and imaginative dishes and I sampled the French toast and the Canadian pancakes during our stay. Both had been freshly made and were delicious. Even the orange juice was great!
Most of the staff were very friendly and obliging, although I wouldn't class the level of service as extremely high. A couple of times there seemed to be a bit of an atmosphere which guests pick up on so please have your internal discussions out of our earshot! One of the breakfast waitresses was visibly disdainful, although I couldn't work out why.
Finally, the bar at the front of the hotel is very lively, perfect as a start or end to your evening. Just make sure you stay at a room at the back as the noise continues pretty late.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back are quieter.

Had a smaller top room floor - paid a lot less than standard rate so had a fair return.
A very clean, warm friendly hotel with willing staff.
This is an excellent location within walking distance of the Royal Albert Hall as well as Science/N History & VA Museums.
No tube in easy walking distance but easy location to pick up a cab & lots of local bus stops with v frequent busses to central London / West end.
An individual hotel with good standards, we would happily return & recommend.

We stayed just one night at The Gore, our room was small and we wouldn't have wanted to stay there for a longer period but hotel was beautiful inside, the bar was great. We attended a group function and the food was excellent. Staff very courteous and efficient. Breakfast service was a little slow but friendly. Had a long walk around Hyde Park before checking out. Would definitely stay again but would recommend asking for a larger room if staying more than one night.

Friendly staff, warm welcome, with everyone being helpful. Nice bedroom and bathroom, great shower. Good area for sitting and reading, with newspapers to read, tea and coffee. Good location for Albert Hall and museums.
