“Convenient, clean, basic”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 July 2014

This is a massive hotel right in the heart of Kensington, just a few metres away from one of the best connected tube stations, Glocester Road. Unfortunately the Picadilly line is closed at the moment, but this is one of the few stations that has three different lines running through it so you can get all the way from Heathrow directly to the hotel which is just around the corner. Hyde park and the museums are a very short stroll away.

The Hotel is clean and has all the amenities, but I was in a "standard" room and it is very basic, no frills. The room was large enough and the bathroom was fine, but there was no liquid soap, just shampoo. I think there are some tacky things like the cable which ties the iron to the ironing board (!!) which makes filling the iron quite ridiculous. The fridge is not stocked (which suited me fine because I had groceries to keep fresh). Wifi was not free at that stage (I think it is free now) and it was over priced. I was there during the Soccer World Cup and discovered that there were no sports channels on the TV in the room, which forced one to go to the pub downstairs but that did not open till much later in the day, so one has to walk the streets looking for a pub with a sports channel!

The pub downstairs was nothing to get excited about, really ordinary food. There are several airline crews who stay at the hotel and when they arrive the queue for the lifts is enormous (which is when I preferred to use the pub....)

I would probably stay here again but would probably upgrade to a better room.

I have stayed here three times now on short visits to London and each time the hotel has been great. The staff are very helpful adn efficient, the rooms are ok, clean and comfortable (the beds are amazingly comfortable), there is a decent selection of food on offer and the location is pretty good. Easy for Kensington High Street and the Gardens. Not the cheapest alternative but a little slice of comfort in good surroundings. Metro station is only 3 mins walk away as are some nice restaurants, shops and bars. The sports bar in the hotel is also very good value. Museum close by. Still charging for in-room WiFi which seems oddly petty.

Room Tip: Try for an upper floor with good views over the city.

The hotel is nice and clean in a good location with the tube station round the corner and Harold's a 20-30 minutes walk ( long roads). An enjoyable stay nothing to complain about rooms are comfortable usual holiday inn dimensions for London. The cafe/restaurant on the ground floor next to the reception was good but nothing special.

Will stay again

Hotel was clean and comfortable. It seemed to be in a predominately residential neighborhood but very close to the metro and lots of restaurant options in the area. The staff was very helpful and friendly. I would recommend this for groups or families.

The hotel is 5 minutes walk from tube with plenty of restaurants, bars, supermarkets, etc nearby. It's a large hotel with a mixture of tourists and business people. Bedrooms are a reasonable size for a London hotel. Service is good and breakfast is the typical fare. there are some nice extra touches not usual for a Holiday Inn. It's not the best hotel in London but it is definitely value for money.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher floors, overlooking the back of the hotel are quieter.

Cannot really complain about the hotel or it's location but it is clear it's the location you are paying for. Hotel parking is hideously priced. I have stayed in equally nice london hotels for a fraction of the price. Onsight shop charges almost £2 for a bottle of water! Close proximity to the underground and a tesco extra. The pub inside the hotel is fab.

If you want to be in a hotel that is old and outdated come here. There is wood paneling in the hallways that is outdated; the rooms are like a shoebox, and the staff is extremely unfriendly. The only good part about this hotel is that it is right around the corner from the Tube entrance.
