“Beware of the single bed rooms”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

Dear all,
Hilton has truly let themselves down. I am a seasoned business traveller and regularly in London. London hotel rooms are expensive and poor quality in general, so I try to use hotels that are a part of a larger group to avoid things becoming too ridiculous. My secretary booked based on a 4 star rating at the Hilton as my usual preferred hotel was unavailable. The price is GBP 448 for two nights, not exactly a bargain. Ups....she booked a single bed room, something to be avoided in general. But Hilton 4 star cannot be all bad or? Oh yes... the room is tiny, not even square, the ceiling slating, windows oddly placed low on the wall, only 3 meters to the next building, all in all as claustrophobic as it can only be in cheap hotels in London and New York.

Yes it is clean, staff friendly and service-minded and the rest of the hotel probably half decent (looking at the pictures), but this room (246) is not a GBP 224 a night hotel room. A group like Hilton should remove these rooms completely. They do not belong in a modern hotel and definitely not in a chain that wants to be up-market and business traveller friendly. Big mistake as I will now be very cautious next time I book a Hilton Hotel. I would rather have been told in advance there was no vacancies than being offered this. Yes, tried an upgrade but nothing available so I will have to keep calm and carry on...

Friendly staff and everything you would expect from Hilton, except the worlds smallest room. It would be laughable if it wasn't so claustrophobic. Took a video of the shoe box if anyone wants to see it! I've stayed in London Hotels many times, and know they are typically small, but this was something else!

Great hotel - would definitely stay again and recommend it too. Just off Green Park. Great for tube from Heathrow. Very impressed with everything - staff, breakfast, room (king delux) was lovely. Well worth it.

Location - If you are used to the 5 star Hilton experience found in places like Niseko in Japan, then this is not going to live up to your expectations. That said, the location is nothing short of excellent. 5 minute walk to the Green Park station on the Jubilee line, and just a stone's throw away from Green Park. The area is safe and surrounded by loads of attractions within walking distance.

Decor - Again, this is no 5 star experience, but you will find it neat, tidy, albeit a bit dated and 'tired' looking.

Room - Overall a bit dated, but you will find everything you need. Washroom is in reasonable condition and the bed is fine for what it is. Overall, it is clean and functional, but again, it is not fancy by any stretch of the imagination.

Service - Check in staff is friendly and helpful. That said, it was odd how no one picked up the phone when I called reception. Had to try a couple of times and overheard a couple of North American tourists complaining to the reception staff about the same experience. The service at the concierge however was a bit hit and miss. When we asked them to book us a cab a couple of days in advance due to the tube strike, the staff was not really helpful and even asked us to recommend cab companies for them to call... odd request given that I am the tourist and they were supposed to be the experts on managing these things...

Food - Breakfast buffet was decent for what it was. Good selection and fuss-free. Service was great and attentive.

Overall - I will stay here again due to the location but may consider switching if something a bit more 'fancy' in the same price range and area was available.

Very old building, wooden creaky floors in the room, worn out plumbing in Bathroom. Claustrophobic. Average food quality in restaurant. At GBP 198 per night, its no value for your money. Other hotels in the neighborhood offer more for less.

Made to feel very welcome, the staff explained how it all worked especially about the selection of teas, they even laid out a table by the window for us,that was not even being used. We enjoyed all the varieties of sandwiches, scones & cakes which was followed at the end by a great couple of cocktails. The best part was I told the staff it was my birthday & they produced two yummy slices of chocolate cake which was a real surprise. The staff were very attentive & it was good to be able to chat with them about their lives which made the experience all the more enjoyable.
We will certainly be going again.
