“Lovely hotel with central location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 August 2014

Spent one night at this hotel on a weekend visit to London. Very comfortable room and breakfast was first class. Had dinner in the Tiger Brasserie, the food was excellent but the restaurant was a bit disappointing as it was very minimalist with no ambience at all. The decor was very bland and didn't reflect the name of the restaurant. Having said all that, the service was excellent with very friendly staff and delicious food.

We visited the Hilton with friends for afternoon But there was a mix up with our booking and instead of being booked for afternoon tea they were expecting us for an evening meal. We were told that we would have to eat an hour earlier if we still wanted afternoon tea as tea finished at 5pm. We were a little confused when guests were still arriving at 5.15 for afternoon tea which would have been much more convenient for us! The waitress was lovely however the quality of food was not fantastic and we had to return a scone as it was still frozen in the middle! I felt the whole experience did not live up to the standards of the hotel image. Ok if you just want an afternoon tea but not the special treat we were expecting.

This hotel was great! The rooms were very comfortable. We enjoyed breakfast each morning at the hotel which was delicious. The hotel's location is wonderful. It is a short walk to Buckingham Palace and Green Park is beautiful.

The whole stay was excellent from start to finish. The guy who checked us in was very friendly and explained everything clearly from breakfast times and directions to the room. Our room was on the 5th floor accessed by a lift. The room was spotlessly clean as was the bathroom. It was a humid weekend so my only criticism is that the room was very warm. We opted to have breakfast in our room which carried a £6 tray charge per person which was quite a lot but that said it was delivered right on time and allowed us to get ready and get out for our day sightseeing. We ate dinner in the Tiger Brasserie on site and it was very enjoyable. We had a drink in the bar first and the barman made us feel very welcome. The food and service was very good and we overheard a few couples who were also impressed. Me and my Mum were on a gift experience so we had 3 courses but I didn't want a dessert so the waiter kindly said I could swap it for coffee instead. The hotel is located on Half Moon Street and if you come out of the hotel and turn right, at the end of the road you turn left and its a 2-3 minute walk to Green Park Station and from there its literally a stop to get into the centre. We walked to Covent Garden also from the hotel and that took us 20mins and it was a great walk right through the buzz. The hotel is also located literally a one minute walk to Green Park and less than ten minutes to Buckingham Palace where we visited the State Rooms. As our train home wasn't until 8pm on the Sunday we stored our bags there all day and also popped back to store some shopping and have a drink. I would definitely base myself here again on my next trip to London. For a London hotel it was a high standard.

£289 for b&b in a Hilton king deluxe. What you expect is a larger than normal room, with a bit of a view and room facilities to match the price and the postcode.

What we received was a room (ground floor no 43) that was small dark and dingy located at the bottom of a bland corridor. You had to walk past the Hoover to get to the room, but on our day of departure the Hoover had gone, only to be replaced by a discarded fridge from the bar.

The lighting in the room was dim, and the view out of the window was that of a grubby wall and a maze of air conditioning ducts. The furniture was tired and a table that wouldn't have withstood much more than a nudge it was that wobbly.

The plus side of this hotel has got to be the staff, the breakfast and the location, all cannot be faulted. It just is a bit of a let down and disappointment when you spend good money on a Mayfair hotel but don't get appropriate accommodation for the price you have paid. A bit of a let down for Hilton.

Probably will try somewhere else when visiting the west end in future.
