“Spacious apartment with every convenience”
Reviewed 24 April 2013

Our family of two parents and two tweenagers enjoyed this well appointed and centrally located appartment for a three night stay. The period building was attractive and the internal decor very elegant. Most attractions were within comfortable walking distance. In a ritzy part of London, there was a pleasant and safe neighbourhood feel. We would recommend the Ascott Mayfair to families looking for superior yet spacious central London accommodation with kitchen and washing machine/dryer facilities.

Room Tip: Enjoy a complimentary brewed coffee self-service anytime in the breakfast room.

My husband and our two older children stayed here for 2 nights in half term recently. We had a 2 bed apartment, lots of room and beds were comfortable.

The location was pretty good, 10 minute walk up to Oxford Street and Bond Street tube station.

The negatives were the lack of decent lighting particularly in the bedrooms, only one bedside light so we could not read in bed, hopelessly bad overhead lighting too. Also the total lack of sound proofing was irritating, both nights I was woken by people talking outside our room (we were very near the lift) and they were having a quiet conversation! I am just very thankful there were no noisy groups staying near us as it would be a big problem.

Staff were ok, not very friendly or communicative. We arrived at 1.53pm and were made to wait until exactly 2pm to check in.

I would recommend this hotel if you need space and are staying for an extended period but for a couple of nights I would choose somewhere friendlier and cosier.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the lift as rooms have no sound proofing.

We booked the one bedroom apartment for 10 days. The apartment size is good since its London - Its not easy to find big apartments but its good for a family. Clean rooms. Its simple and nice so do not expect it to be fancy but you feel as if you are at home. The staff are amazing, very helpful and friendly.
The location is amazing! 10 mins walk to Oxford street and 15-20 mins walk to Knightsbridge and 10 mins walk to Hyde Park - I loved the location

Me and seven of my friends booked the three bedroom suite for NYE/NY. Price was very reasonable and it's in a great location for getting to the Southbank area to watch the midnight fireworks and then to see the London Parade on New Years day.

Whilst it's not a modern hotel and there was some trouble with the lifts, the building has plenty of character and the staff were very friendly and helpful. When we couldn't find the covers for the fold out sofa bed, a quick call to the reception desk resulted in a staff member coming up to the room to set the bed up for us with extra towels and the duvet which was in another room.

The three bedroom apartment comes with three en-suite shower or bath/shower rooms - finished to a high standard. One of the bedrooms had two single beds which was great for me and my friend and luckily my other friends were all couples so it worked out perfectly.

On checking out, the staff were very helpful with allowing us to store our luggage until we returned later in the afternoon.

All in all a great stay.

Room Tip: The three bedroom suites can comfortably sleep eight people.

I had booked to stay at the Savoy, but my booking agent made a mistake and I ended up being booked into a one bedroom apartment at the Ascott Mayfair.

This place may not look like much from the outside, but it is very nice inside as lovely classical music welcomes you. There is no parking at the Ascott, but plenty of multi-storey spaces around (albeit a little expensive).

The staff at the Ascott are exceptional; in particular, Alexander who worked at reception was beyond helpful no matter what issue, question or desire we came to him with.

The bedrooms are two large single beds pushed together to make a king-size bed; but unlike some hotels where you fall down the gap between the beds this was not an issue at all. Aside from the bedroom, there is a marble bathroom, large lounge and small kitchen.

Location wise you cannot get much better whether you want to use taxis, tube, bus or on foot to get around.

In the morning, breakfast was good (if self-service affair); you might expect more from over £350 a night.

Overall it is a very nice hotel and I would stay again; though places like the Grosvenor House Hotel can be up to £100 cheaper per night so price will definitely come into it before booking again.

This place has a great location specially as it was so easy to walk down to Hyde Park at any time. We rented a 3 bedroom apartment during the Olympics for 10 days.
The apartment was very clean, stocked daily with tea, coffee and bathroom essentials. Wonderful white sheets and towels, changed as often as you want.

Almost everything was great and perfect, untill the last day when we were checking out. We had requested an extension for 2 hrs, but we're told we'd have to vacate by 1 pm. Which was not a problem.

The problem was the electronic room keys which won't work after 12 pm on check out day.....unless the desk was informed. Which it was, the day before as well as morning of checkout. We went for a stroll before leaving, returning 10mins to noon, not aware that the key will not work. I spoke about leaving with the lady at the reception and went to our room, only to go back downstairs to find out about the self locking system.
Obviously the sour and curt lady tried to justify the locking. She said unless they had been informed this was an automatic process. They had been informed.
She tried to reactivate the key, but couldn't as it was not yet 12 pm. I fail to understand the logic!!
I have a feeling she knew the key would not work, but let us go up to the 7 th floor.
I think the management should look into this kind of attitude by the staff, though, except for 2 of the ladies, everyone else was very cordial and helpful.

Room Tip: I think the rooms on the right side of the reception area are much better. We moved from the left to...

We have just spent 2 nights over the bank holiday weekend at this charming, quaint hotel, as part of a weekend away to celebrate our wedding anniversary.
We stayed in a 1 bedroomed apartment which was immaculate on arrival, extremely well equipped, spacious & comfortable. There was everything we could have wanted/needed to base our outings from & make for a very enjoyable, peaceful night's sleep.
But the outstanding service from the pleasant, friendly & accommodating staff - from reception desk to management - has to surely be the basis of my 5 star rating! Everybody made us feel like VIPs & must be commended for their efforts.
Cannot recommend this venue enough - do not hesitate to book!
Thank you to all for helping to make this a thoroughly enjoyable weekend for us both!

Room Tip: If you choose a 1 bed & above, you will enjoy a spacious living area as well as an en-suited roo...
