“Excellent location but average rooms”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 July 2014 via mobile

Stayed for 7 nights this month with wife and 2 kids in a two bedroom apartment.Layout and space was good but the interiors seem a little rundown and old. It definitely needs some renovation. For the amount of money one pays the furniture should be a little better. The service too is nothing great. The air cooler in one of our rooms was not working properly and in spite of complaining on the second day itself they could not fix it until we had checked out. After telling them twice the only thing they could do was send us a fan.The best part of this apartment is the location. Simply excellent ! For the rest it is very average specially considering the price they charge.

Stayed here for a week in early July. Stayed in a one bedroom apartment and thought the room furnishing was not bad, especially after what we were expecting having seen some of the pictures from earlier reviews. Rooms seemed to have been refurbished recently and had none of the issues highlighted in earlier reviews. That said, do agree the building needs an upgrade especially in light of what the brand stands for and more in the common areas. The most annoying aspect of our stay was neighbours cooking curry and opening the front door for ventilation which meant the entire corridor and lifts smelt of curry. Maybe the hotel needs to advise guests to be more respectful of other guests.

We stayed in an Executive 1bed apartment for 11 days in June , having chosen a serviced apartment because of the length of stay . While the apartments are functional , they are in urgent need of renovation and are inferior to other Ascott properties. Our apartment was on the ground floor which are very visible and lack privacy. The windows could only be opened partially , which was a problem as the weather was warm and the air conditioning barely worked . The service was polite and so we would consider returning , but only after a renovation and if on an upper floor.

Nice place booked 2 bed apartment for 6 people to be given 2 apartments that linked so a bit weird. Having said that there was plenty of room and it was nice. They didn't give us enough towels though and also didn't give us access to the connecting door so if it shut we would have been locked out. After going to reception and explaining this a few times they sorted these issues out. They did give free bubbly for inconvenience though!

Disgusting Concierge. I could call him racist. Or just not interested in his job. Sullen faced porter, who must have been doing some fancy job somewhere and has got kicked down to a job of a porter. Unhelpful and rude. Almost abrasive. Beaten up rooms. windows open only an inch so if you are feeling hot - well go feel hot. As there are no AC's - no fans. And who says London does not get hot?? Unless i had to sleep on a bench in the park, i wouldnt go there. Oh- and bad springy beds. i woke up with a back ache every single day.

Stayed here a few nights while on a business trip to London. It was my first time to stay in a serviced-apartment, as I normally book a centrally-located hotel when traveling for business. I did not have plans on cooking so the kitchen facility was never utilized. Ordered take away food each time. The gentleman at front desk did not look like a typical hotel personnel handling check in. I thought his skill set was more of a porter or a doorman, should he decide to work in a 5 star hotel. He gave me an upgrade upon check-in which made me feel like I won a raffle draw, but when I got into my one-bedroom apartment (supposedly a nice studio which looks beautiful on the website) I felt like checking out right away or perhaps ask to be downgraded instead. But i was very tired from my trip so I did not bother. The room was spacious but it was very old. I did not even want to take off my shoes as the carpet was very filthy. The doors and wooden panels were all scratched and worn out badly. The TV in the room was so small that I did not even bother to switch it on. The room did not smell fresh at all. Anyway, glad I was out the whole time and just returned late at night to sleep. The only saving grace here is the location. Other than that, suggest to its owners and management to renovate the place as it is not good for their customers.

Room Tip: When they offer you an upgrade, try not to accept it. Tell them that you would rather stick to the r...
