“Nice hotel”
Reviewed 19 August 2014

This is a good hotel, but not worth the money paid. It's very central London and made for tourists. The bar is certainly appealing, but at £14 per cocktail, just a quick drink is enough. There are plenty of normal priced bars elsewhere. The rooms are ok but quite small and don't take your cat because you won't be able to swing it in the tiny bathroom. All in all, a nice hotel, but wouldn't recommend it

Very nice hotel, rooms can be a bit small, but the location in Mayfair is prime. Only a short walk to Selfridges and the many other shops on Oxford Street. A short walk to Regent Street, New Bond Street and about 20 minutes from Buckingham Palace. Bond Street underground very close by for those days of less than ideal weather.
Front desk staff and concierge are very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: Courtyard facing rooms typically quieter.

Stayed five days here in August with my 20 y/o son and had a great experience. Adam and Danny of the Concierge were excellent with suggestions and getting us hard to obtain show and football tickets. Never ate in the hotel since there were so many excellent options close by and all around town. Across from a nice park and many embassies. Only minor complaint is the huge bed frames they have for the single beds. Skinned our knees many times. I will stay here again.

The Marriott is in an excellent location, just minutes to Selfridges its probably ideal. It is also located on a very noisy road though. Having requested quiet, adjoining rooms on a high floor we were allocated first floor over looking the main road. The hotel was 100% full apparently so there was also no possibility of an upgrade, which being Marriott members is custom, or a move to a higher floor as requested. The rooms are adequate and functional. The rooms had built in wardrobes, a desk which was too deep to allow for the provision of a chair under it as that meant you couldn't walk into the room, bed and flat screen TV. A kettle and tea/coffee were provided but the milk/creams were off - rather nasty. The walls were paper thin and as our neighbour enjoyed the TV, a good chat and rearranging the furniture well into the early hours of the morning, along with the road noise we could not sleep. To say that reception were uninterested is an understatement. Basically a good location, a very average hotel and very disappointing customer service.

During the last week of May, my family and I stayed at the Marriott Grosvenor Square hotel in center of London. We had two rooms and took an up charge to have views of the square next to the hotel. This is the absolute heart of London. You walk a block to Selfridges on Oxford street or to the Bond Street tube station. A few blocks the other way and you are on your way to Buckingham Palace.
Aside from the location, this is one of the few top category hotels in the Marriott chain. I would not say this is a lavish hotel but it is extremely well managed and any needs you may have are met without a question. We needed to leave a day early to attend to a family member who fell ill while we were away. When I explained this to the front desk, the response was 'of course" and we will arrange a car to take you to the airport.
The rooms are well appointed and functional. The beds are superior and top grade linens.
Being in the area of all the foreign embassies, I believe they cater more to the business people than the families on vacation, but this was a great hotel for us.
Gordon Ramsey has a steak house in the hotel, which was always busy and those who we spoke to that ate there said it was a great experience.
We have stayed at three other Marriott properties in London and they are all good, but for us, this is the best.

Room Tip: They up charge for rooms with views of Grosvenor Square and these were very quiet

On arrival the valet took our car, we checked in and as they were fully booked we were upgraded, perfect. Our room had its own private terrace with a very cosy fireplace! Everything was available to make this a stress free weekend for us, which was welcome as our mission was Christmas shopping! The hotel was immaculate all round, we had access to the lounge with complimentary refreshments and snacks. Due to our busy schedule we didn't sample the (Gordan Ramsey) restaurant, however we will do when we return. The location couldn't have been better, we had a 2 minute stroll to Selfridges, Oxford Street. I highly recommend this hotel as a luxury base in walking distance to many of London's sights. The immediate area feels safe & relaxed, I'm looking forward to our return.

Room Tip: If your travelling during the summer months, book a room with the terrace garden.

I spent three nights here mid-week for a business trip. The room was good sized and well appointed. The location was perfect as I was able to walk to my company's office near Portman square easily and also able to walk (a little further) to the river and see a few sites.
